VIDEO: Rick Perry booed at CPAC after saying the words "growing Hispanic demographic."

I've tried to avoid CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) to protect what's left of my sanity. I've really tried. I mean, I've really tried. Paddy has been posting videos here and there, like the ones of Allen West and Louis Gohmert, but I couldn't bring myself to watch them.

Instead, I took a deep breath and watched this:

Thank you, Talking Points Memo. I owe you my mental health. If only those at CPAC still had theirs.

But just when I thought I was safe, Benjy Sarlin noticed that Rick Perry got a smattering of boos (it's hard to hear, but they're there) when he uttered the words "growing Hispanic demographic." I couldn't resist clipping that part out for all to see.

Those whacky, zany, outreachy, reinvented Republicans, they sure have changed!

"Now, the popular media narrative is that this country has shifted away from conservative ideals, as evidenced by the last two presidential elections. That's what they think, that's what they say. That might be true if Republicans had actually nominated conservative candidates in 2008 and 2012. Might be true. But now we are told our party must shift appeal to the growing Hispanic demographic."

  • It is this kind of insecurity which fuels the hatred and bigotry in the Conservative base. They wish to blame the blacks and browns for their shortcomings, and it makes them feel superior. That is why they Booed the idea of a changing demographic. They also know their platform is poison for Latinos and the working class in general.
In fact, they are small, with small minds and no new ideas. CPAC is proof that this party will never change. They can't. They have painted themselves into a dark corner from which they can never escape. See who is speaking at CPAC and see who speaks for the party. Trump, Palin, Perry, Santorum, West, and the rest, like Rubio, are just talking heads who deliver only lip service to the issues and get cheers when they mention going back to being America. In actuality, going back to being America would mean "Liberty and Justice for All" not just those with huge amounts of cash. They preach fear, hate, bigotry, intolerance, degrade the poor, the elderly, Vets on Disability or SNAP. They talk about being the party of Big Ideas but do nothing but snipe at this president from the sidelines, offer no alternatives and obstruct (Filibuster) every bill which will move this country forward.
When the GOP talks about "Taking This Country Back" , they mean it literally. They want to take it back into the stone age and ride Dinosaurs with Joseph and Mary.

  • Ha! What an idiot! Talking shit about Mexicans is supposed to wait until after the 1% is done lying on stage...
