The video below needs a whole lot of views, especially in light of, “Not so fast on the Komen ‘reversal’”.

Breast cancer is not political, it is not a funsy, pink-ribbony clique, it is not tool from which to profit. It is a painful, excruciating nightmare.

:

Billions of dollars have been raised through the tireless efforts of women and men devoted to putting an end to breast cancer. Yet, breast cancer rates in North America have risen to 1 in 8. “What’s going on?” asks Barbara Brenner in Pink Ribbons, Inc. a new film coming in 2012.

This feature documentary visits some of the massive fundraising runs and questions where the money goes and asks ‘who really profits from pink ribbon campaigns?‘. We meet women with metastatic breast cancer from the IV League support group of Austen, Texas who openly tell us their stories.

Here is another must-see video of what it is and what it isn’t: Breast cancer patient to Susan G. Komen Foundation: “You showed your ass. Now you can kiss mine.”

    Um, this is the trailer for that documentary, lol.

    Mom worked for a breast cancer research center and clinic for almost 40 years before she retired  a few years ago at the age of 69. She says the pink ribbon Komen crap is exactly that. Crap.

     I also heard today that there is a documentary in the works called “Pink Ribbon Inc.”

    I’ve always been irritated by the pink ribbon marketing. Just another way to attract more dollars for a corporation that seems more interested in paying themselves inflated salaries, instead of searching for a cure…which would ultimately put them ‘out of business’.
    It has now had the light of day shone upon the fact that they are just another in the list of ‘big businesses’.

    I have developed a reflex whenever I see a pink ribbon, accent, highlight, or anything;
    I picture Homer Simpson cooing…BOOBIES…….GOOOOOOOOOOD!

    I see the SKF as a cash cow raising funds for the sake of raising money.  I have not seen what the ratio is, but I bet it is not much different than other professional fundraising causes.
