Via Think Progress:

General Electric (GE), the world’s largest corporation paid nothing in federal corporate income taxes in 2010. In fact, the company made over $14 billion in profits and actually received a $3.2 billion tax benefit.

See, the way the GOP tells it, it all works out because GE will create JOBS, see. JOBS.

I’m sorry, what’s that I’m hearing? There are no jobs created as a result of corporate tax breaks? And gargantuan corporate monsters are getting richer and more powerful every day? Why, that hardly seems fair. No wonder Rep. McDermott is so peeved.

Unfortunately, GE is not alone in its tax avoidance. It joins Bank of America, Citigroup, ExxonMobil, Wells Fargo, Boeing, and many other major corporations have gone quarters or or entire years without paying any federal corporate income taxes.

Hence, one of the many reasons for the New Civil Rights Movement.
