Tea Partier, birther, and Freedomwatch Founder Larry Klayman said this about politicians: "They’re all whores."
Martin Bashir tried to narrow the name-calling down to either Rafael "Ted" Cruz or Mitch McConnell. Klayman singled out McConnell. He then quoted Thomas Jefferson, to which Bashir's guest reminded him, "Mr. Jefferson was a racist."
He and Bashir really went at it, but Klayman was no match for Bashir. Okay, that's a given. Seriously, why can't more hosts challenge idiots, racists, and liars like Klayman the way Bashir just did? He was masterful:
Mr. Klayman, what evidence do you have to support these repugnant smears and slurs? Have you asked the president if he was a Muslim? ... What is your evidence?
Hypocrite Klayman's answer:
Those references were metaphoric. But they ring true.
How would you defend yourself if accused of being a delusional racist whose hatred for this president is in fact a form of psychiatric pathology, an illness? ... We have people who would regard you in exactly that way. "Metaphorically," as you put it. How do you defend yourself against the accusation that you're a repugnant racist whose hatred for the president of the United States, the current president, dominates every single aspect of your life?
...You are prone to exaggeration.
But my favorite Bashir comeback was:
Who's the whore now?
Of course, having such a huge vocabulary and a wonderful way with words plus that lovely accent made him even more effective. Kudos.
