Tea Partier, birther, and Freedomwatch Founder Larry Klayman said this about politicians: "They’re all whores."

Martin Bashir tried to narrow the name-calling down to either Rafael "Ted" Cruz or Mitch McConnell. Klayman singled out McConnell. He then quoted Thomas Jefferson, to which Bashir's guest reminded him, "Mr. Jefferson was a racist."

He and Bashir really went at it, but Klayman was no match for Bashir. Okay, that's a given. Seriously, why can't more hosts challenge idiots, racists, and liars like Klayman the way Bashir just did? He was masterful:

Mr. Klayman, what evidence do you have to support these repugnant smears and slurs? Have you asked the president if he was a Muslim? ... What is your evidence?

Hypocrite Klayman's answer:

Those references were metaphoric. But they ring true.

Bashir:

How would you defend yourself if accused of being a delusional racist whose hatred for this president is in fact a form of psychiatric pathology, an illness? ... We have people who would regard you in exactly that way. "Metaphorically," as you put it. How do you defend yourself against the accusation that you're a repugnant racist whose hatred for the president of the United States, the current president, dominates every single aspect of your life?

Klayman:

...You are prone to exaggeration.

But my favorite Bashir comeback was:

Who's the whore now?

Of course, having such a huge vocabulary and a wonderful way with words plus that lovely accent made him even more effective. Kudos.

YEs, but only a metaphorical birther.

Let's keep our eye on the ball here, folks. The important part of the Tea Partier's belief that Obama is a muslim is not that Tea Partier's think Obama is a muslim. The important point is that Tea Partier's are radically disconnected from observable, objective reality. This implies that their views on anything are almost guaranteed to be wrong.

  • the_real_Orangutan

Bashir did make a substantive point when he compared Obama's foreign policy to that of George W. Bush. Obama supporters take note: Obama is Bush III.

I am at the far liberal end of the spectrum, but I have to say that the commentary on this interview is idiotic. Bashir was no "master". He never strayed into anything of substance, but went straight for the invective and the "gotcha"s. Furthermore, Klayman was essentially correct: McConnell is more of a whore than Cruz. Cruz is better characterized as a deranged ideologue.

To paraphrase Howard Cossell, "Down goes Klayman! Down goes Klayman!"

A metaphor. What total bullshit. As if anyone at that rally or anyone reading the transcript would even get it as metaphorical if he truly meant it that way.

Bashir was correct. He used those specific words to incite his followers and to try to demilitarize the twice-elected President.

He admits to still being a birther too.

Bashir finds it hard to even ask Klayman a question without laughing. Seems telling a bold faced lie is now a metaphor, according to Tea baggers.

  • jamescrackscorn

The Tea Baggers were drummed up, marched in front of America by the media and they themselves are the reason they have any clout at all on the hill. Of Klayman's a whore, and he is, then Bashir is just another pimp.
