Pretty interesting. Isn't Stephen Colbert from South Carolina? Maybe a write in campaign...

Washington (CNN) – Republican Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina will resign from his Senate seat as of December 31 to take over as head of the Heritage Foundation, CNN confirmed Thursday.

Elected in 2004, he was re-elected in 2010. His term was not up until 2016. South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, a Republican, will name a successor. A special election will then be held in 2014 for the last two years of his term.

What speaks loudest to me about DeMented's move is that old O'Jays song that Trump used to use as the theme song for The Apprentice, "Money, Money, Money."

I would love to see Stephen Colbert in the Senate. I think if he could be convinced to run, he'd have a chance.

Lemme guess:  he wants to "spend more time with family" . . .

Good riddance!  I wonder what's really going on; has he been "hiking the Appalachian Trail," or does he have a "wide stance," or what?  It would be irresponsible not to speculate.  At any rate, don't let the door hit you in your pasty white butt on the way out!

If he were ill or had an ill wife/child that he wanted to take care of or spend time with, that would be one thing, but to leave so early in his term just to head the Heritage Foundation?  Seems strange to me.  (Not that I'm crying over it - he's the head cheerleader for obstruction.)
