VIDEO: Miss Utah responds-- in Palinese-- to a question about income inequality

huh what'd they say

My pal @Anomaly100 alerted me to this call for help at the Miss USA pageant. Please read her post here.

Miss Utah, Marissa Powell, was asked about the male-female income disparity in this country at [the] Miss USA pageant.

Here was her answer, fresh from the Former Alaska Half-Gov Blatherina McWordSalad Home Study Course in Public Speaking:

Miss Utah:

I think we can relate this back to education and how we are continuing to try to strive to (pause) figure out how to create jobs right now. That is the biggest problem and I think, especially the men, are um, seen as the leaders of this and so we need to try and figure out how to create education better so we can solve this problem.

As much as I am tempted to snark about this forever, my sympathetic side's heart goes out to her, because now her Moment of WTF is forever YouTubed for all to see and hear. And because answering questions on the spot in front of a huge audience isn't easy for anybody.

But think... think... what does that clip remind us of...? Ahhh yes! It's all coming back now!

They know these questions are coming, but like politicians, they withhold the truth about the issues and just spout bullshit. Miss America should stand for something. Sweep this airhead under the carpet.

  • Good points and I sort of almost, give her a free pass but with an caveat: I get to point and laugh:-)

  • I agree to all of that.

However, she also should have been better prepared. But my heart really did go out to her, which is why I only poked fun gently. Had this been a real Palin impersonator, I wouldn't have held back.

    Yeah I heard that.
But I'm gonna give her a pass because:

    1) She's not screeching hateful nonsense on Fox every week.

    2) She's young and in a beauty pageant, not a knowledge challenged grandmother running to be leader of the free world.

    3) She actually knew she was flubbing the answer under pressure when she paused and smiled.

    4) She didn't attack anyone, use sarcasm or say anything mean or deliberately dishonest.

Yep, gonna give her a pass, although comparing Palin to a young 'deer in the headlights' beauty contestant unable to coherently speak is quite apt.

  • She said (out loud), "Create education better." You go grrrl!
