Bring Out The Big Guns
So the tiny NRA membership — compared to the total electorate — can hold our country’s safety hostage. Elected officials are afraid if they vote for common sense vs. true security they will lose their jobs. Logic disconnect.
So let me see if this adds up — a vote against the NRA’s stand against gun control of any kind, not gun repossession, but control, means that you won’t be reelected? Okay, if I buy into that, then nothing else these elected officials do, matters. No other bill until the end of their term is of consequence, because only this outcome will determine whether or not they get returned to Congress? Bullpucky. Since when is someone elected for a term and only judged on one vote?
Sorry, if you vote along with the NRA, but vote for some other issue, like immigration or health reform or on a budget, women’s rights, or protecting voters rights, constituents will take that into consideration too. So buck up and do what’s right, not what the NRA tells you.
No one’s taking your guns or rifles away — they’re preventing unnecessary ownership of non-essential, yet very dangerous munitions. What hunter needs a semi-automatic with a 30 round clip? Ten’s enough — if you can’t bag your prey with 10 shots, you shouldn’t be handling a rifle anyway. And if it’s protection you want, if you can’t hit two or more attackers with 10 shots, what makes you think you’ll have more luck with 30 shots? You’ll be dead by your assailants long before you get off shot 5.
Want to end this madness by the NRA minority? Vote out every incumbent who votes against the assault weapons ban. Vote out every incumbent who votes against the limits on ammo clips size. Remember Sandy Hook. Virginia Tech. Columbine. And sadly so many others.
Bring out your bazooka — your vote. Dump the Chump who is promoting your harm, ignoring your protections. Make your voice heard. Silence in this case is guilt for the next massacre. Call or email your congressman and senator. It’s easy. Grieving over a lost loved one is hard.
