A West Virginia newspaper thinks it's okay to print the following despicable homophobic, racist, bigoted (I'm running out of adjectives) comments (transcripts from a voice mail) from a clearly deranged reader who responded to a report about a lesbian teacher who had been fired:
“We were really glad to hear that School Board is getting rid of them queers. The next thing is we need to get rid of all the n****rs, the spics, the kikes and the wops.
“You know even them Catholics, they are wrong as baby eaters. We need to clear them people out and have good, white, God fearing Christians and everybody else needs to be put to death for their abominations.
“We’ll keep Lincoln County white and right. Thank you.”
Just as appalling is the man in the video who agreed with those sick, vile remarks.
Marshall University School of Journalism interim dean Janet Dooley:
“It is not only offensive, but it goes beyond that to threaten certain groups of people.”

If the Republican party is struggling to remake their image, they might want to start with attempting to, you know, lead. How about speaking out about language and attitudes like this reader's? They have their work cut out for them, especially because a few of those who should be setting a good example need to clean up their own acts first.
ADDED: We need a palate cleanser, and this one is simply amazing. I wept. I may give it its own post. Big h/t to AMERICAblog's John Aravosis:
