Dad charged with pointing AK-47 at daughter after arguing over the two B’s she got in school

family values my ass

A 52-year-old man legally purchased an AK-47 because he was a-skeered of President Obama taking away his guns and rights and freedoms.

He even passed a background check, but see, he appears to have a bit of a temper. He admitted having a physical confrontation with his wife and daughter during which he felt the need to point the unloaded assault weapon at them. He said he knew it was unloaded. He made sure of it, in fact.

Ah, so that makes it okay to scare the living crap out of his family. Got it.

Terrorizing your child and spouse with an assault rifle is just dandy so long as you don't kill them, accidentally or intentionally. Check.

Freedom of child abuse at the point of an AK-47! Second Amendment remedies! Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness! Let freedom ring!

But only bad guys use guns this way, not fine upstanding family men with nearly straight-A kids, right? Isn't that how the argument goes? Come on, America, give the Family Man and military-style gun ownership a pass.

Via KMSP-TV at MyFox9 (h/t: The Immoral Majority and @Knishette):

A St. Paul man has been charged with terroristic threats for pointing an AK-47 rifle at his daughter during an argument over the fact that she got two B's instead of straight A's in school. [...]

In an interview with the social worker, the victim said they were arguing about her grades when she swore at her father and said she "hated" him. At that point, Bartashevitch grabbed his newly-purchased gun and pointed it at his daughter. [...]

Kirill Bartashevitch is charged with two counts of terroristic threats for pointing the gun at his daughter and wife. Bail was set at $20,000 with the conditions Bartashevitch have no contact with his daughter or wife.

He could get five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. His family got traumatized and could have gotten killed.

Family values my ass.

Put down the NRA talking points, turn off FOX and try thinking for yourself.

How come I get the feeling that you don't read thepoliticalcarnival.net? You make a whole lot of assumptions, all of them extreme, disturbing, and erroneous. You seem to be very well-versed in all forms of violence, by the way.

In fact, my next post is about corporal punishment. Stay tuned.

And you are on the verge of being banned. Just a heads up. As I said, read our guidelines.

So if it had been a bat, a machete or an axe or a piece of electric cord, that would have been okay?   Why is it that ONLY the crazy-guy-with-the-gun is featured here? I guess the moral is if you're going to torture and terrorize your kid, don't do it with a gun or people will FREAK OUT.

  • Alpha Propellerhead

Ironically, if he'd have just kicked her in the head or cut her with a knife, most people here wouldn't concern themselves with the matter.

  • Alpha Propellerhead

It appears that if they just beat their children with hot irons or sticks, you guys don't have a problem with it.

So he gets a fine for terrorizing his family with a military weapon, but if he grew a certain plant in his back yard, he'd be looking at years in prison.  What a country.

I just read a story about the idiots who shot themselves with 'unloaded' guns at three different gun shows on "Gun Appreciation" day (also known as Do Something Stupid With A Gun day). The daughter should be very glad there wasn't a C or D on that report card.

I hope the daughter, having good grades, was smart enough to convince her mother, to pack up and move out ...

  • ORAXX

Just standing his ground because his daughter got a "B" in creation science?

  • Gregory Williams

What problem with her and school was he going to solve with an AK-47 ? Did the mother take her daughter into hiding?
It's Minnesota so were the republican members of the federal delegation informed that their opposition to the re-authorization of VAWA nearly killed TWO women?

An AK-47 is specifically designed as a weapon of WAR - it is not a hunting or sport weapon nor is it a weapon for personal defense it is military grade assault weapon and it's only designed purpose is to kill MEN and WOMEN and CHILDREN.

Did he get to keep the gun?
