AZ Governor Jan Brewer Bans I.D.'s, Benefits for DREAMers

What a nasty, bitter woman she is. Good thing being this looks like a whole lot of hot air.

PHOENIX – Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer on Wednesday ordered state agencies to deny driver’s licenses and other public benefits to young illegal immigrants who obtain work authorizations under a new Obama administration policy.

After the order was issued, supporters of the program and the DREAM Act took to the streets of Phoenix in protest. Video from Air15 showed the protesters carrying signs and walking down Central Avenue toward the State Capitol.

In an executive order, Brewer said she was reaffirming the intent of current Arizona law denying taxpayer-funded public benefits and state identification to illegal immigrants.

Young illegal immigrants around the nation on Wednesday began the process of applying for federal work permits under the federal Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

just saw your comment. I have to say, its always good to do a bit of research yourself before trolling nonsensical stupidity. According to USA Census in 2011, Hispanic make up about 30% of the State, that is larger than New Mexico and Colorado. Not to mention the national average, which is about 16% and the whole hoopla about election and the role the Hispanic plays overall. Another thing, your perception that being Hispanic = non white is equally ignorant of the racial and colorism dynamic that exist within Hispanic culture. For one, if you take out the white Hispanic from Arizona, then about 56% are white in the State.

On the undocumented in the State, what little fact has been gathered, it does not represent many of the Hispanic population, so the stereotype lives on.

Better do a little research right over at the U.S. Census Bureau (part of the Dept. of Commerce) and get the facts yourself so that you can make a better choices on your comments. Arizona is dominated by white folk. And unfortunately too many ignorant ones with a small percent of non-whites sprinkled in there with them.

By the way there have been undocumented workers living in Arizona for a long time that would like to be citizens but are afraid to step forward out of fear of being deported. I cannot help but think if these undocumented workers were white there would be a much higher consensus of Americans willing to accept the “Dream Act” and allow these people to become citizens.

and yet the Hispanics in the State keep voting for her and the Republican party. Aren’t Hispanic majority or at lease a larger population in Arizona? Perhaps there is a split between Hispanic who lived in the States for decades and the newcomers.
