Possible Romney running mate Rob Portman: “I’m so boring that I didn’t even know I was boring."

Say it with me: Running mates should not outshine presidential candidates. Running mates should not outshine presidential candidates. Running mates should not outshine presidential candidates.

Of course, in Willard Romney's case, a loaf of Wonder Bread could upstage him.

WaPo:

COLUMBUS, Ohio — He had received a phone call just that morning from a supporter furious about yet another newspaper story suggesting that he was boring. It was not the best of days for Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio, a man thought to be on Mitt Romney’s list of possible running mates. “I told my staff that I’m so boring that I didn’t even know I was boring,” he said at a large conference table, surrounded by several expressionless members of his staff.

...Stephen Colbert had declared that a Romney-Portman ticket would amount to “the bland leading the bland.” One description of Portman in the Wall Street Journal article particularly nettled the senator and some of his close friends: “dry as dust.”

The fact Mr. boring white bread was GW bush's budget director should disqualify him for any higher office.  Once the magnifying glass is on Portman and this information about him being one of the guys responsible for our economy crashing rmoney might regret this pick as VP.
