North Carolina lawmaker: “Abortionists” should be hanged

Some people should not write emails. Ever.

Others should not hold public office. Ever.

Here’s a peach of a guy who does both. Via wral.com:

“We need to make the death penalty a real deterrent again by actually carrying it out. Every appeal that can be made should have to be made at one time, not in a serial manner,” Pittman wrote in the email. “If murderers (and I would include abortionists, rapists, and kidnappers, as well) are actually executed, it will at least have the deterrent effect upon them. For my money, we should go back to public hangings, which would be more of a deterrent to others, as well.”

Please read the article for all the details, but North Carolina Republican Rep. Larry Pittman’s response went a little something like this: “I got a bit carried away and overstated my case. I am sure I am not the only one who has ever done that.”

No, you’re not, Lar, but how many of us who get “a bit carried away” want to hang physicians who care for women by doing their job legally? And then email about it? How many of us have that little impulse control?

Of course, Mr. GOP Family Values’ legislative website posts a bio that describes him as a “pastor, shipping worker, company chaplain.”“Pro-life” my ass.

Teach, you never cease to amaze me. If a Dem said the same thing, something like, “Pro-Lifers should be hanged” you’d be all over it. Conservative hypocrisy personified.

Who cares? Someone unknown county lawmakers says something stupid. He represents nothing at the state or national level. Was it a slow news day or something?

Aside from all the obvious comments begging to be made about this asshole, let me just ask this: “company chaplain”? WTF? What kind of a company has a chaplain on the payroll?

Give it time, I’m thinking these cronies will get voted out one by one. Every time each one’s re-election comes up, they will get put out to pasture.  (hopefully without that lifetime pension)

The entire “anti-choice” crowd is full of crap!

Take KS Gov Brownback (yeah the snowflake guy) who’s pushing ahead with privatizing Medicaid in Kansas:

The same number of dollars will be spent on medicaid but part of it will now go to private insurance companies, and Sammy wants us to believe no one will suffer.

He’s an effing idiot of the highest nature!!!

And because if public hangings, or any other shade of the death penalty actually worked, we would no longer need it…

It stuns me how almost no one seems to get this argument.
