The following is a response to the article referenced in my previous post GOP Rep. “Rohrabacher’s face turned red, she said, adding that he said he represents citizens and hates illegals.”
Again, allow me to refresh your memory about who exactly California’s Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is:
GOP Congressmen: Iraq War a “horrible mistake…Everybody” thinks so. Surprise! It turns out it was just a big ol’ GOP oopsie! (Maybe he should watch this VIDEO– Hubris: Selling the Iraq War. BushCo saw an opportunity and took it, and took us.)
And just for giggles: Dana Rohrabacher surfin’ and singin’. Not kidding.
And with that, here is today’s L.A. Times letter to the editor, because our voices matter:
Just because Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Huntington Beach) — who said, “Just because you are a wonderful person doesn’t mean you deserve to be an American citizen” — had the luck to be born here should not give him the right to deny citizenship to a person who has lived here for most of her life, is in college and will in all likelihood become a productive member of her community, paying taxes and contributing to the well-being of those around her.
I wasn’t born here; I came from Nazi Germany in 1936 and was blessed with citizenship papers at age 20. I shudder to think what might have happened to me had Rohrabacher been in charge of granting or denying me citizenship
