Melissa had a lovely show today, so elegant in so many ways. Many of us needed that touch of class after such a brutal election cycle.

If only she and Chris Hayes could move to weekdays, enlarge their audiences, and open a few eyes.

Melissa Harris-Perry:

"There are many other fantastically loving, wonderful, creative, fulfilling and healthy ways to make family. Even Jesus was born to an unwed mom and raised by a doting stepfather."

MSNBC anchor and newlywed Thomas Roberts:

"Gavin Newsom, Lieutenant Governor of California flew in to marry us. it was epic, so special, the best night of our lives by far. I highly recommend it to everybody out there. Go get married, whoever you want to marry. In certain states now, if you are part of the lesbian and gay community, you have that option to be able to do that. And it was so fulfilling. I grew up pretending a lot to fit in, pretending to be straight. And I find now ... when you find your voice, you do not want to shut up about it. I have found my voice. I feel very privileged to have found it. Patrick and I were together 12 years up to the point where we got married, and we deserved that opportunity."

VIDEO ADDED- Quickie: Dick Cheney "worships the ground the Paul Ryan walks on"... BUT...

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

Today's Quickie:

Via Taegan who quotes Politico:

Said Cheney: "I worship the ground the Paul Ryan walks on. I hope he doesn't run for president because that would ruin a good man who has a lot of work to do."

Or to put it another way, "I have a huge man crush on your baby blues and Eddie Munster hair, but if you run for president, you'll lose. Big time. Don't even think about it. Americans happen to cherish their socialistic Medicare, so we'll have to find another corporate-friendly way to French kiss Big Insurance without alienating the entire country, including our own party."

That was today's Quickie. Was it good for you?

"Jon Huntsman’s love letters"... to Democrats.

John Huntsman v. President Obama in 2012, or John Huntsman President Obama?

From Huntsman's 2009 letters, it looks like the latter. Via The Daily Caller:

You are a remarkable leader,” Huntsman wrote to Obama in an Aug. 16, 2009 note, underlining the word “remarkable,” “and it has been a great honor getting to know you.”

The letter thanks Obama for “the graciousness and kindness you have shown me and my family – particularly your confidence in my ability to represent you in China.” Huntsman said he was “leaving behind a state we love – but anticipating an extraordinary experience in Beijing.”

Huntsman hearts more Dems in more letters, so go read the rest here.

In order to avoid the wrath of fellow Republicans, Willard Romney has been avoiding his own health care reform accomplishments, and now poor John and his sugar aren't doing a thing to help his case, either.

Prez O must be doing something right... as poor Willard and John are doing something left.

Faster than a speeding bullet... more powerful than a locomotive... able to leap tall buildings in a single bound...

...

... in touch??

"He's more powerful than the entire Republican National Committee. He has a better e-mail list, he has better ideas, he's a better communicator and he's more in touch with what people think."

-- Pollster Frank Luntz, quoted by the New York Times, on Newt Gingrich.

Some-body has a man crush on the Newtieeee.
