The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence is encouraging concerned citizens to call Representative Barrow at (202) 225-2823 to tell him to support the President's gun policy proposals.

So you think it's only conservative Republicans who are obstacles to common sense public safety measures regarding gun violence? Wrong. Here's a Georgia Democrat who should be ashamed of himself for allowing political donations from the blood-soaked NRA to take precedence over human lives... children's lives.  Rather than my getting on my usual personal soap box, here's most of a press release from the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. Please read it and do as I did, call Rep. Barrow:

Washington, DC—One day after the President unveiled a broad-ranging package of gun policy measures, the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence (CSGV) has released a new video to remind Members of Congress what is at stake. The video... features Rep. John Barrow (D-GA) and uses his own campaign ad to link his support for the NRA to the weak gun laws that facilitate the type of carnage we have seen at Newtown and other massacres.

In his ad, Rep. Barrow cocks a rifle and touts his NRA endorsement. He then closes with the warning, “I approved this message because these are my guns now—and ain’t nobody gonna take ‘em away.” [...]

According to CSGV executive director Josh Horwitz, “Representative John Barrow has decided to put his love of the NRA above his concern for his fellow Americans. That is not acceptable.”

Noting that Barrow has received $27,250 in NRA campaign contributions over his eight-year congressional career, Horwitz added, “Rep. Barrow has been bought for the price of a new truck. It would be laughable if his lack of regard for our families’ safety wasn’t so dangerous.”

The new CSGV video follows on the heels of an ad campaign criticizing Senator Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) for saying the White House's effort to reform our gun laws was "extreme." [...] In response, Senator Heitkamp changed her position...

Horwitz noted that the President’s report is full of proposals that are overwhelmingly supported not only by Americans, but by gun owners. This includes reforms that would require universal background checks on all gun sales, renew the ban on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines, and eliminate restrictions on federal research into gun violence.

The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence is encouraging concerned citizens to call Representative Barrow at (202) 225-2823 to tell him to support the President’s gun policy proposals.

Again, I followed through and called. Please do the same. We need every vote we can get to start the ball rolling on realistic, common sense ways to save lives. Enough is enough.
