Tagg Romney: Mitt "wanted to be president less than anyone I’ve met in my life."

Why don't I buy this? Via Boston.com:

More than being reticent, Romney was at first far from sold on a second presidential run. Haunted by his 2008 loss, he initially told his family he would not do it. While candidates often try to portray themselves as reluctant, Tagg insisted his father’s stance was genuine. “He wanted to be president less than anyone I’ve met in my life. He had no desire to . . . run,” said Tagg, who worked with his mother, Ann, to persuade his father to seek the presidency. “If he could have found someone else to take his place . . . he would have been ecstatic to step aside. He is a very private person who loves his family deeply and wants to be with them, but he has deep faith in God and he loves his country, but he doesn’t love the attention.”

If he didn't want to be president, then why was he so amazed and distraught when he lost?

Adviser: Romney "shellshocked" by loss

Christie says Romney still 'upset' after loss

Seems he would be celebrating his own defeat since he "had no desire to run" and "wanted to be president less than anyone I’ve met in my life." And if he'd have been "ecstatic to step aside" then why didn't he?

President Obama and millions of Americans are glad he didn't.

VIDEO-- Ann Romney: If Mitt loses, "he will not run again. Nor will I." More on Tagg's "take a swing" at Obama remarks

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

Video is from The View.

Oh pleaseohpleaseohplease let President Obama win, if for no other reason than this. Let's do all we can to make the phrase "Willard M. Romney is running again" a thing of the past.

"Absolutely he will not run again. Nor will I...."

Wait, what? Ann was running? Gosharootie, I'd nearly forgotten about that:

[O]n Sunday, in a “FOX News Sunday” interview with Chris Wallace, she repeatedly talked about “we” in an annoying way, as in “we’re running,” and “that’s why we’re running,” and “we’ve been running.”

And here's a recent clip from KDVR, where she repeats the "we're running" line (get past the slight pause at the beginning):

Then again, she's promised us before that Mr. Ann would "never" run again:

Mrs. Romney said that four years ago she made a video tape and on the tape she looked into the camera and said, “Mitt, this is for you, sweetheart. I’m never doing this again.”

The Romneys never stop changing their stories. Never ever. Unless they refuse to talk at all:

“The good news is I’m not running for office and I don’t have to say what I feel."

Wait, so now "we're running" has morphed into "I'm not running"? And she doesn't have to say what she feels until she says what she feels about abortion. Mrs. Etch A Sketch indeed.

Then there was this nugget responding to a story Mike Nellis and I broke last night: AUDIO: Tagg Romney says he wanted to take a swing at President Obama

Via HuffPo:

Also appearing was the Romneys' son Josh, who was asked about brother Tagg's joke after this week's contentious debate that he wanted to "take a swing at" President Barack Obama. Josh Romney said as someone who's been slugged by Tagg, he can assure Obama he has nothing to worry about.

So all Josh felt he needed to address was the potential effectiveness of a Tagg assault, not President Obama's safety, not the idea that Tagg wanted to attack the president of the United States with fists instead of words, not the hypocrisy of the Family Values Romney clan, and not the lack of morality, judgment, and respect of his brother's reckless statement.

All of the above: Par for the course.

Just a little something Tagg Romney let slip on the Bill LuMaye Show. You can hear the entire segment here.

Host:

"What is it like for you to hear the president of the United States call your dad a liar? How do you react to that?"

Tagg Romney:

"Well jump out of your seat and you want to rush down to the debate stage and take a swing at him."

Tagg goes on to say, " But you know you can't do that because, well, first there's a lot of secret service agents between you and him..."

Those family values just ooze out of the Romneys, don't they?
