VIDEO-- "Bainport", Illinois fired Sensata workers to Mitt Romney, "Just be honest." "Save our jobs."

If you need a brief recap of this ongoing story, the Bain-owned company, Sensata, is outsourcing Freeport, Illinois jobs to China; employees wanted Mitt Romney to intervene. The soon-to-be-ex-workers have been forced to train their own Chinese replacements. Their jobs are being shipped to China in November.

Welcome to Mitt Romney's America.

All our Sensata posts are here (scroll).

Ed Schultz went to Freeport, now nicknamed "Bainport," and broadcast his show from there. This is a must-see, must-share:

VIDEO: Former supporter, Sensata worker speaks out on Romney: "He's a bald-faced liar."

To refresh your memory, the Bain-owned company, Sensata, is outsourcing Illinois jobs to China; employees want Mitt Romney to intervene. The soon-to-be-ex-workers have been forced to train their own Chinese replacements. Their jobs are being shipped to China in November.

America first! Go Mitt!

Sensata worker Mary Jo Kerr:

"Once it closes, it's devastating for the whole entire town. Everybody's just walking around slumped over not knowing what they're gonna do."

"[I thought Romney's] gonna create American jobs. He says that's what he's gonna do... And when I found out that he owned Bain Capital and Bain Capital owned Sensata and they were shipping our jobs to China, I was furious."

"He's a bald-faced liar. I mean, he's going out there saying I'm gonna create American jobs when, no he's not. He's profiting off of jobs going overseas."

"Having to train somebody [Chinese workers] to take your job and you don't have any control over it, it was probably the hardest thing I had to do."

Thanks to Ed Schultz for staying on this story.

VIDEO: Mitt Romney "should lose the election just on this issue."

United Steelworkers' Leo Gerard spoke out on behalf of the non-union workers on the Ed Show:

"This is a disgrace! [Mitt Romney] should lose the election just on this issue."

"This can't be the America we're headed to. We've gotta stop this from happening."

To refresh your memory, the Bain-owned company, Sensata, is outsourcing Illinois jobs to China; employees want Mitt Romney to intervene. The soon-to-be-ex-workers have been forced to train their own Chinese replacements, and to add insult to injury, had to take down the American flag (added: temporarily). That's right, Bain Capital forced Sensata to take down an American flag and put up a Chinese one.

Their jobs are being shipped to China in November.

How's that for patriotism? America first, right Mitt?

New York Times:

“[Romney] owns about $8 million worth of Bain funds that hold 51 percent of Sensata’s shares.  If Sensata saves money by closing the Freeport plant, that could add money to Mr. Romney’s trust accounts, now or after the election.”

The company is located in Freeport, Illinois, but now they soon-to-be-ex-employees are calling it "Romneyville, suburb of Bainsport."

Illinois Workers Fight Back Against Bain Capital Outsourcing Their Jobs to China

Remember Sensata? If not, read this post: Bain owned company outsourcing Illinois jobs to China; employees want Mitt Romney to intervene.

To add insult to injury, those soon-to-be-ex-employees have to train their own Chinese replacements. Their jobs are being shipped to China by the end of this year.

Now Your Daily Dose of BuzzFlash at Truthout, via my pal Mark Karlin:

BuzzFlash at Truthout talked today to Tom Gaulrapp who is losing his job after 33 years because Mitt Romney's Bain Capital is sending the Sensata plant where he works to China. [...]

Over the past several weeks, the Sensata workers ... have put pressure on Mitt Romney through a campground protest across from the Freeport plant, solicited community support, started a press release campaign, and are currently conducting a bus tour targeting outsourcers of jobs to China.  The soon to be displaced employees call their encampment Bainport and maintain a website to publicize their efforts.

[T]he Romney campaign finally responded through a spokesperson earlier this week:

"Governor Romney has not worked at Bain Capital for over a decade, but for four years President Obama has been presiding over an economy that is creating too few jobs and sending more jobs overseas. Despite the President being invested in Sensata through his personal pension fund, and the government owning a major Sensata customer in GM, President Obama has not used his powers to help this situation in any way." — Curt Cashour, Romney Campaign Spokesman

Say what?  ... Gaulrapp told BuzzFlash that unions are fully supporting even though the plant is not a union shop.  But the Romney campaign's effort to blame Obama for Bain's outsourcing of jobs to China is so brazen, such a big lie, many people might think it is true.

As part of his retirement holdings, which earned him more than $20 million in 2011, Romney has a stake in the Bain Capital fund that owns Sensata, so he directly benefits from the outsourcing.

"We will be completely out of a job."

"Who's gonna hire me?"

"They're abusing these people."

"It's really slave labor is what it is."

Mitt's "fingerprints are all over everything that company does."

"He's out of touch with 99% of the people..."

"If you want know what the Romney economy is why don't you look up Sensata..."

Remember Sensata? If not, read this post: Bain owned company outsourcing Illinois jobs to China; employees want Mitt Romney to intervene.

To add insult to injury, those soon-to-be-ex-employees have to train their own Chinese replacements. Yes, that's right, their jobs are being shipped to China by the end of this year.

In the above video, Sensata workers watched the Romney secret video about how “Chinese factory workers” just couldn’t tear themselves away from their fine working conditions.

Via 99uniting.org:

According to Think Progress, Romney has “held a direct investment in Sensata through one fund titled ‘Bain Capital Fund IX, L.P.,’ dated December 31, 2009, meaning he has likely financially benefited from Bain’s ownership of the company in the past, and could benefit from the plant’s closure and the outsourcing of the jobs to China.” And “according to his 2011 personal financial disclosure, Romney still holds the Bain Capital fund that contains the Sensata investment.” [...]

It’s not like Sensata is nearing bankruptcy, or that this is a business plan to return to profitability.

Bain owned company outsourcing Illinois jobs to China; employees want Mitt Romney to intervene

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

Willard M. Romney still gets money from Bain Capital through a blind trust held by his wife Ann and investments in the Cayman Islands. And his buddies at Bain Capital are still shipping jobs overseas, still snatching jobs from Americans, including in Illinois.

In a small town like Freeport, laying off 170 workers is a major loss, which is exactly where there will be 170 people newly unemployed, thanks to Bain outsourcing jobs from Sensata Technologies, a Bain-owned plant.

Freeport's population is less than 30,000, and their unemployment rate is at 10.4 percent. Putting nearly 200 people out of work affects the entire community.

Via Progress Illinois:

“When I found out that my job was going to be shipped overseas to China ... at first I was angry, now just five or six months away from unemployment, I’m scared,” said Cheryl Randecker, a Sensata employee who has worked at the plant for 33 years. “As a single mother, I don’t just worry about myself, I actually worry about my daughter."

In early 2011, Sensata, a maker of sensors and controls that are used in aircraft, automobiles, and electric motors, announced it would be relocating the jobs in Freeport to China and closing the local plant. Normal operations have continued following the announcement, but hundreds of jobs are being phased out gradually and final layoffs are set to occur just before the holidays in December.

Merry Christmas!

Now, after years on the job, Randecker won't be able to pay for her daughter’s education, and she's worried about making her house payments and paying her bills. And to make matters worse, she and her fellow soon-to-be-ex-employees have to train their Chinese replacements, which she says is "challenging."

Randecker asked community leaders and organizations to help get Romney to assist them in saving their jobs. Don't hold your breath, Cheryl.

Of course, based on what Bain did under Willard's watch, and on what they're doing now, "job creator" isn't exactly the appropriate adjective for the GOP candidate, now is it? He's always been part of the unemployment problem, not the other way around.
