Video- Roy Blunt: Republicans have votes to delay Chuck Hagel nomination

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

We try to keep this a fairly SFW blog or I'd tell you exactly what I think of those sniveling, cowardly, imbecilic, bitter old men. Via.

Sen. Roy Blunt signaled Wednesday that there may be enough votes in the Senate to delay debate on the nomination of Chuck Hagel to lead the Pentagon.

Blunt (R-Mo.) said he believed there were 40 votes in the Senate that indicated “it’s too quick to end the debate on this nomination.”

The GOP, which controls 45 votes in the Senate, would need 41 votes to block former Sen. Hagel from hitting the 60-vote threshold that some Republicans have threatened.

“In one hour, Mitt Romney showed why women don’t trust him for one minute."

Please go to Livewire for the entire statement, but this was an effective and rapid response coming from President Obama's Deputy Campaign Manager, Stephanie Cutter, regarding Willard Romney's latest flip flop. This time it was about the Blunt Amendment, which would "allow any employer to deny an employee health coverage of anything they found morally objectionable":

In one hour, Mitt Romney showed why women don’t trust him for one minute. It took little more than an hour for him to commit his latest flip-flop. Even worse, he ended up on the wrong side of an issue of critical importance to women.

The Obama campaign just won a battle of words in the War on Women.

Missouri Dems: Roy Blunt, a la Meg Whitman, hired illegal immigrant as houskeeper

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

eMeg has a fellow GOP hypocrite to commiserate with now, to be, er, Blunt about it:

The Missouri Democratic Party Tuesday released documents they said showed Rep. Roy Blunt tried to help an “illegal worker” in 1990, while he served as Secretary of State.

Tsk tsk tsk. When will they never learn?

The documents released Tuesday include a letter from Blunt, on state letterhead, asking then-INS Commissioner Gene McNary to address a case involving Dora Narvaez. Narvaez, the Blunt letter said, had “done some work” for Blunt’s wife at the time, Roseann.

“I believe her situation is properly expressed in her letter to Roseann,” Blunt wrote to McNary, a former St. Louis County Executive and a friend of Blunt’s. Narvaez’s letter was attached to the Blunt communication, Democrats said.

I decided that if the guy you know best at Immigration and Naturalization happens to be the person in charge, then it’s all right to direct your correspondence to him,” Blunt wrote.

Dora Narvaez said she was the Blunts' housekeeper for a few months back in 1990.

I hear Gloria Allred's already booked. Roy, you're on your own.

Michele Bachmann hospitalized

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

Paddy just linked me to this, and asked, "Did she fake it to miss the Blunt fundraiser so as to not piss off Tea Baggers even more?"

U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann canceled a scheduled campaign appearance in St. Louis, Mo., Saturday for GOP Senate candidate Roy Blunt after being hospitalized with an undisclosed illness.

Is an undisclosed illness like an undisclosed location? You go there in case of an emergency... ?

According to her office, it was a "sudden illness". Her spokesman refuses to divulge what that sudden illness is. I suspect it has something to do with that cavernous void in her cranium, but that's just me. Oh wait. That isn't sudden, that's chronic.

They say she's well on her way down the road to wellness, so my Official Joke Censor 2000 hasn't kicked in.

The illness kept her from making a trip Saturday morning to Missouri, where she is backing Blunt, a U.S. House member running in the GOP primary for the U.S. Senate.

Blunt's opponent is backed by the Tea Baggers, including  Not Joe the Not Plumber. Hence, Bachmann riled a few Missouri Tea Potty groups when she decided to pal around with Blunt.

We wish here a speedy recovery.
