Speaker of the House Boehner Calling It Quits

Share

I quit

Faced with an imminent crushing and humiliating defeat by his own caucus, Speaker of the House Boehner unexpectedly quit today. No, he didn't give up his Speakership -- only his obligations to run the House.  He's decided to throw in the towel, do nothing (something he excels at), and hang out a sign on Congress's door saying, "Gone Fishing. Be back in 5 weeks."

With no significant immigration bill to assuage the border fears he and his fellow Republicans fueled, he looks like he's a loser who's no longer got the control over his own people. Stick a fork in the old fool. He's done.

He can take solace in the fact that his leadership isn't the only one to take an embarrassing wallop by pulling his weak and ineffective immigration bill. The troika of House GOP leaders all were crushed. Washington Post reports:

The pulling of the bill marked an embarrassing failure in the first real test of the new leadership team that takes office Thursday following Virginia Rep. Eric Cantor’s resignation as majority leader.

Exiting a closed-door morning huddle at the Republican National Committee, senior Republicans had expressed confidence that the Boehner proposal would pass.

As recently as Thursday morning, hours before the scheduled summer break, Boehner had signaled he wanted a bill passed so the Democrats couldn't use the August break to pound away at the Xenophobic GOP. To ensure he could get conservative Republicans on his side, he was even ready to do away with the Deferred Action for Child Arrivals program (DACA) -- surely something that would would get the Tea Party right wing immigration haters on board. It was all but assured -- and then the collapse. Newly elected GOP House Majority Whip Steve Scalise dashed Boehner's hopes with the news that he couldn't drum up the votes. Out the window went the bill as well as any possibility of getting Latino or Asian votes in the fall.

Smells-Like-Bullshit_o_99704

So now Boehner and his two cohorts have five weeks to hide their faces before they're called back to spend three more weeks doing nothing and then going on their next scheduled break. The national budget, transportation, immigration, embassy appointments, education reform, long term unemployment -- all of these are now going unattended.

Well, Boehner's done. And truthfully so is the GOP as they used to be known. There are three parties now in the US running our government -- Democrats, the remnant Republicans, and the Tea Party.

Are you an unhappy Republican? If so, blame John Boehner -- but do it quick. He might retire before returning. His orange face is obviously not wanted in Washington D.C. anymore, unless it's on a Wanted poster for obstruction of justice and dereliction of Duty.

Satan Sides With Michigan RNC Vice Chairman

Share

GodHatesFagsw396h256

When you're running for any kind of office, it's always best to tell the truth, speak your mind and let people know where you stand. And when you're elected to office, it's helpful to know what you're doing and how you're serving us.
From HuffPo:

A new candidate for a Michigan seat on the Republican National Committee wants gays "purged" from the GOP and claims homosexuality is a "perversion" created by Satan himself.  Mary Helen Sears of Houghton County in the state's Upper Peninsula, elected vice chair of the Michigan Republican Party's 1st District last year, posted a rant in April on the Schoolcraft County GOP website -- preceded by a warning asking readers to "please use your discretion before taking any decisions based on the information in this blog."

Gee, how considerate of Ms. Sears to offer such a warning. We wouldn't want anyone to get the wrong impression of how she feels in this or any other issue. Face issues head on, I'm sure she always says.

"How do you handle a hungry man? The Manhandlers." That's the old ad slogan for Campbell's Soup. But that was way back in the mid '70s. We're in the 2024 generation. What does the vice chair of the Michigan Republican Party have to say now?

In the post, Sears claimed that homosexuals prey on children, argued that "Satan uses homosexuality to attack the living space of the Holy Spirit" and advocated that Republicans "as a party should be purging this perversion and send them to a party with a much bigger tent."

Where are the looney bin keepers and white-suited men when you need them? Can you believe this woman is a GOP member? On top of that she's a gay basher? And an ignorant hater?

Sadly she's not alone. Take Dave Agema, a former Michigan state lawmaker who has regularly made anti-gay comments and has been condemned by fellow Republicans, including Gov. Rick Snyder. He's also serving on the Michigan Republican National Committee.

Here I thought it was just West Virginia that's suffering the ill effects of tainted water. Surely there much be some leakage of some kind of crazy juice or insane sauce up in Michigan.

Ms. Sears is up in arms over the seeming tolerance of gays in our society. And the same with communism. She's attacking the higher education leaders as well:

...wrote that Communist college professors were indoctrinating young people and claimed that Charles Darwin's evolutionary theory "gave rise to Hitler’s Third Reich, Mussolini’s Italy and Stalin’s Russia."

She's lumped communism into the ills and dangers following any of us who dare allow gays to roam freely, preying on our young along with college professors who are out to corrupt our older children's minds. Paranoid, much?

"If the GOP continues down this trend and stand for perversions and the daily social fad ... The GOP will be truly dead and Satan will have had his day," Sears wrote.

It's at times like this when you can't help wonder who left the door open to the insane asylum.

Big, looming GOP "ad blast" targeting Dems ends up being one measly $30 ad

boast

Oh those whacky, zany Republicans and their big, boasty swagger. They're so presh, so totes adorbs, so... embarrassing. Just as Chris Christie gets off on bluster and throwing his weight around [insert joke here] (only to become accused of  "alleged" involvement in a growing scandal), so goes the RNC.

They've now blustered themselves right into LaughingstockLand. Again. Shrinkage alert!

Via the Anchorage Daily News:

The Republican National Committee announced Tuesday a fresh round in an expected torrent of campaign ads targeting Sen. Mark Begich and other Democrats for their part in the "lie of the year," an assurance that people could keep existing health coverage under the Affordable Care Act.

The ad blast turned out to be more of a sprinkle.

In Anchorage, a single radio ad aimed at Begich was set to air on a single station ... one time [...]

The total cost to the Republican National Committee for the Anchorage radio airtime? $30.

But there's always a bright side. At least top RNC employees weren't caught exchanging incriminating emails. And then feigning innocence and pointing fingers.

GOP votes to ban NBC, CNN from primary debates

gopcrybaby

Byron York seems to think they did it more to cut down on the damaging amount of debates like last time. Can't give the hopefuls too much airtime to shoot themselves in the foot.

Republican leaders voted Friday to centralize party control over presidential primary debates in the name of punishing two networks that are producing major films about Hillary Clinton.

The non-binding resolution, obtained by TIME and published in full at bottom, fulfills a Republican National Committee threat to boycott NBC and CNN as primary debate sponsors if the networks move forward with their plans to air the films about the 2016 Democratic front-runner.

Republicans argue in the resolution that the projects, which have yet to be actually produced, “are an attempt to show political favoritism and put a thumb on the scales for the next presidential election.”

“Airing this programming will jeopardize will the credibility of CNN and NBC as supposedly unbiased news networks and undermine the perceived objectivity of the coverage of the 2016 presidential campaign by these networks,” the resolution, formally titled “A resolution in support of media objectivity and accountability.” states. The measure passed unanimously by voice vote.
