Remember the dreaded "Ground Zero Mosque"? It opened... without a whiff of "refudiation".

After all the hooplah, all the whoop-dee-doo, all the Islamaphobic slurs and right wing attacks, all the gigantic 24/7 controversy that was covered by all the "news" dee jays... yes, after all that, the so-called "Ground Zero Mosque" (that isn't a mosque and isn't located at Ground Zero) opened without a peep from protesters or a whiff of controversy.

That's right, the Park 51 Islamic community center is open and no evil Muslim terrorists have descended up on New Yorkers.

Via Think Progress:

There was no sign of protest at the Park51 community center last night. It opened its doors to the public in lower Manhattan Wednesday, without the opposition that had surrounded the project for a year.

The center was crowded for most of the evening — with visitors who said they came to see the new photography exhibition and others who were interested in the place itself. Brooklyn’s Jean Stevens said she’s not surprised the event went off without a hitch. “It seems like there’s not much of huge response to this reception or to the mosque anymore, and so I wonder whether if people have forgotten it now that its not such a hot topic.”

The cultural and community center peacefully and quietly opened its doors and nothing happened. And that's exactly what should have occurred a year before it opened its doors.

Refudiate that, Palin.

Sarah Palin is a "stilted, pompous, self-important, peacocky, sensation-seeking person"

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

That said, I love the smell of L.A. Times letters to the editor in the morning:

Putting up with Palin

Re "On pop culture and politics," Nov. 20

In all of my 76 years, I have never before been subjected to the rantings of such a stilted, pompous, self-important, peacocky, sensation-seeking person. Is there no escape?

As a dedicated citizen of the world we live in, I strive for fairness, open-mindedness, cooperation and understanding from those who represent me in government. Never before have I been more concerned for this country's safe and sane future with the likes of Palin bombarding us in every medium.

In her latest book, Palin trots out the Jeremiah Wright- President Obama bromide.

Obama repudiated Wright, apparently not to Palin's satisfaction. Perhaps if Obama had refudiated Wright.

VIDEO- ClusterFox U: GOP's Ed Gillespie lapses into Palinspeak, uses "refudiated" to make a point

How can voters take members of the GOP like Ed Gillespie seriously when they can't even master the English language? That would be the very same English language that they insist should become the "official" one of the United States, just to make sure those evil dark-skinned immigrants don't "take over" and make us their slaves.

Face it, Republicans, between Ed and Former Half-Gov Illiterata McIt'sCatching, you are the Party of Dumb. And what's even more disturbing is how this same party encourages the dumbing down of the electorate via the University of ClusterFox, courtesy of Dean Beck, Assistant Dean Bill-O, Associate Dean Hannity, and their staff of weenies. Their devoted student body parrots their talking points, the corporate media reports them as if they're news, and so the cycle continues.

The ClusterFox U graduating class of '10: America's loony alumni. The "refudiators" of tomorrow. The future "I am you" candidates. Citizens United States of America.

As for the substance (or lack thereof) of Mr. Ed's statements, Think Progress examines the usual corporate mindset and also corrects the record:

In fact, neither the Post nor the Times “refudiated” the ThinkProgress report. Both merely quoted Chamber of Commerce officials who only discussed the limited “AmCham” funds, only one of several avenues for foreign funding of the Chamber. Both articles recognized that there is no outside oversight of the Chamber’s money flow. [...]

Only Gillespie has made the “charge of illegal criminal activity.” Although it is illegal to solicit foreign funds for electioneering, the essential fact is that there are no disclosure requirements that provide oversight to know whether or not the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is obeying the law.

PhotOh! "Refudiation" is all they've got.

How sad:

They are actually reveling in Former Half-Gov Dimmy McTwinkBrain's, as well as their own, stupidity and ignorance.  I understand that's a sure sign of failure.
