Sadly, this is shocking but not surprising. Top NYPD supervisors of an elite anti-gun unit are being accused of treating white suspects well, but treating African Americans like “animals” who deserved to be shot in the head. Via The New York Daily News:
The explosive charges appear in sworn depositions from three members of the firearms suppression unit: two current NYPD detectives and a retired first-grade detective. [...]
“Capt. Coan would tell the field team . . . ‘They are f—–g animals. You make sure if you have to shoot, you shoot them in the head. That way there’s one story,’ ” said the retired detective.
Per a former cop, Capt. James Coan would rant like that before executing every single search warrant from 2008-2010 in three Brooklyn neighborhoods. But search warrants on mostly white Staten Island were handled differently. No door-kicking, no rants, no “shoot them in the heads.”
“They didn’t care if it was kids in there, they didn’t care if it was women in there, naked women,” the detective said. “. . . They treated them as if they had no rights whatsoever. It was disgusting.”
Disgusting doesn’t begin to describe it. I could have sworn this was 2012, but after all the disturbing headlines lately, I’m beginning to wonder.
Detective Al Hawkins said that, in 2005, Lt. Daniel Davin instructed white officers, “If you have to shoot a n—-r, do what you gotta do.”
Of course, minority-group members were denied good assignments and career moves. Hey, you “do what you gotta do,” right?
Wrong.
And for good measure, Coan allegedly shot and killed a pit bull. And we thought Frederick Malek III was bad.
How could this have happened? Was it just negligence or… something else? See paragraph five. I’m trembling with anger. I’m very happy that he believes in heaven and hell, because I have no doubt which way this piece of excrement is headed. h/t to Gawker for the headache.
EL MIRAGE, Ariz.—The 13-year-old girl opened the door of her home in this small city on the edge of Phoenix to encounter a man who said that his car had broken down and he needed to use the phone. Once inside, the man pummeled the teen from behind, knocking her unconscious and sexually assaulting her.
Seven months before, in an apartment two miles away, another 13-year-old girl was fondled in the middle of the night by her mother’s live-in boyfriend. She woke up in her room at least twice a week to find him standing over her, claiming to be looking for her mother’s cell phone.
Both cases were among more than 400 sex-crimes reported to Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s office during a three-year period ending in 2007 — including dozens of alleged child molestations — that were inadequately investigated and in some instances were not worked at all, according to current and former police officers familiar with the cases.
In El Mirage alone, where Arpaio’s office was providing contract police services, officials discovered at least 32 reported child molestations — with victims as young as 2 years old — where the sheriff’s office failed to follow through, even though suspects were known in all but six cases.
Many of the victims, said a retired El Mirage police official who reviewed the files, were children of illegal immigrants.
A few weeks ago I asked Jose Diaz Balart (via Twitter) about an Univision Republican debate, and he replied it was pretty much a sure thing. Later that night I told Jeff that the R’s would find a way to weasel out of it ’cause it just had too many booby traps for them in their current Teabagger mode. Ta da! It’s pretty much a he said/he said deal, but if it really happened, why just mention it now? I remember the story emerged last year because I thought it was a nothing point, it really had nothing to do with him.
Three top Florida Hispanic Republicans are calling on the national GOP and their party’s presidential candidates to boycott a proposed Univision debate amid allegations that the Spanish-language television network tried to “extort” Sen. Marco Rubio.
In a letter Monday to the Republican National Committee, U.S. Rep. David Rivera and state Reps. Carlos Lopez-Cantera and Erik Fresen also demanded that Univision apologize and fire its news president, Isaac Lee.
The controversy revolves around a Miami Herald story on Sunday in which staffers from Rubio’s office and the network said that Lee offered to soften or kill a story about a decades-old drug bust of Rubio’s brother-in-law if the Republican senator sat down for an interview — where he’d likely be asked to defend his conservative position on immigration.
Lee and Univision officials, who could not be immediately reached to respond to Monday’s letter, last week denied the reports about a quid-pro-quo offer to Rubio.
This is just sadistic. Read the whole thing, it’s disgusting. These people have no souls, and no, I’m not exaggerating.
FOLEY, Alabama — Many of the 223 Hispanic students at Foley Elementary came to school Thursday crying and afraid, said Principal Bill Lawrence.
Nineteen of them withdrew, and another 39 were absent, Lawrence said, the day after a federal judge upheld much of Alabama’s strict new immigration law, which authorizes law enforcement to detain people suspected of not being U.S. citizens and requires schools to ask new enrollees for a copy of their birth certificate.
Even more of the students — who are U.S. citizens by birth, but their parents may not be — were expected to leave the state over the weekend, Lawrence said.
“It’s been a challenging day, an emotional day. My children have been in tears today. They’re afraid,” he said. “We have been in crisis-management mode, trying to help our children get over this.”
Foley Elementary has the area’s largest percentage of Hispanic students, about 20 percent of its student body.
Under the new immigration law, schools must check the citizenship status of any student who enrolls after Sept. 1.
I really feel like I’m going to throw up. Go read what the guy that took the vid, Ryan Reilly has to say about this. Don’t know about these guys, but that Christian god I’m heard about doesn’t advocate harassing innocent people in his name.

Think “White Student Union” at university conducting random nighttime campus patrols is bad? Read the comments.
The Daily Caller has a story about Maryland’s Towson University’s “White Student Union” conducting “random” nighttime patrols around campus.
The racist “White Student Union’s” president is none other than “white nationalist” (as described by the Southern Poverty Law Center) Matthew Heimbach, a lovely young man who goes by the title “Commander Heimbach” and who is associated with neo-Confederate hate groups.
Remember him? He was at CPAC with Scott Terry defending slavery at a minority outreach panel: It gave ‘food and shelter’ to blacks. He undoubtedly agrees with Bobby Jindal that slavery was just a “choice.”

But there’s another story here, and this one is about the comments at the Daily Caller link. I am dedicating them to anyone who claims we are a “post-racist society” or belittles anyone who claims conservatives don’t have a racist bone in their body, it’s we liberals who do. These are verbatim:

You have a point bob. White men have won enough Medals of Honor, enough presidencies, and enough generalships. White men have had their turn, now it is time for some diversity. So the next war, let us send only women and blacks to the combat zones. Let’s see if they can bleed and die as good as white men have for our country.
That would result in 2 things: (1) Defeat. and (2) A bumper crop of mulattoes.
The White Student Union is moderate when compared to the Black Panthers or Calypso Louie’s loony band of extremists . .
