double standard

You can’t make this stuff up. Via Livewire:

In a statement, Kirsten Hughes, chairman of MassGOP, said that it’s “disgusting” that [Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA)] would “rub elbows” with [Eliot] Spitzer, who resigned in 2008 amid a prostitution scandal.

You are judged by the company you keep and it’s disgusting for Congressman Markey to rub elbows with a man best known for his solicitation of prostitutes,” said Kirsten Hughes, MassGOP Chairman.“Instead of lining his campaign coffers with donations from the disgraced Eliot Spitzer, Markey should immediately cancel the fundraiser and denounce Spitzer’s abhorrent and unacceptable behavior.  Anything short of a public condemnation and cancellation would send the wrong message to women everywhere.”

Did anyone on the right “keep company” with Newt Gingrich? How about David Vitter? Oh wait, Reince Priebus gave David Vitter a pass because “that’s a 5-year-old story.”  (Spitzer resigned five years ago.)

Okay then, how about “rubbing elbows” with the “disgusting” John Ensign? And the “abhorrent” Mark Sanford? Wasn’t their behavior unacceptable? And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

All of those Republicans claimed they stood for “family values” (Spitzer didn’t). All of them are hypocrites. Did they “keep company” with other Republicans? Call me crazy, but I’m guessing they did.

Here’s a thought, Kirsten Hughes: If Mark Sanford can assert that if God forgives you, then cheating on your wife and lying to America shouldn’t matter any more, so can Eliot Spitzer.

Then

Now

After six years of marriage to a guy who didn’t know a good thing when he had one, Debbie Stabenow is well rid of this jerk:

Court records say U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow and her husband were divorced, 15 months after he was caught in a hotel tryst with a prostitute.

Who does he think he is, David Vitter?

She looks wonderful, and she deserves better.

Charlie Melancon (charliemelancon), who is running against Sen. David Vitter in Louisiana, has released a video. And what a video it is! He gets in The Vitter Pill’s face about the Big Prostitution Scandal of 2007.  It’s about time someone did that.

This, by the way, is the same David Vitter who favors corporations over sexual assault victims. The very same genius who wants to defund Planned Parenthood.  That same wacky zany guy who has the diaper fetish.:

Dirty Details From BP Mole: “They’ve brought in prostitutes.”

Mother Jones has something posted that you really must read. Allow me to give you a couple of jaw-dropping excerpts.

Frankly, I’m already beside myself, but this made me beside beside myself. I am now on the other side of the room of myself. I am inside out of myself:

“Two days after your article, they bused in twice as many workers, so they’re up to 120 guys on Elmer’s now, but I can’t see any considerable difference. They’re only working five sites and it’s eight miles of beach. No one seems concerned about cleaning it up. The contractors are getting their money; they don’t care. They’ve got all these people out there, but they’re not accomplishing anything.

Oh, wait. Not nothing: “They’ve brought in prostitutes.” No one knows who the “they” that brought in the pack of hookers is, but the gals have definitely arrived, and you can buy time with one for $200. It only took someone a whole month even to figure out that it would be lucrative to sell sex to guys earning 44 hours of overtime a week and living in camps and converted 18-wheelers.

Or to put it another way, we’re all screwed.

Next thing you know, men will be demanding abortion rights:

The owner of a brothel more than two hours’ drive from Las Vegas said she hopes to hire Nevada‘s first legal male prostitutes within a month, now that state health officials have approved a method to test men for infectious diseases.

The world is ready for women, or even other men, to legally buy sex, said Shady Lady Ranch owner Bobbi Davis. Plus, being the first to offer male service could boost business in tough economic times, she said.

Well it’s about time. And hey, if it’s good for the economy, who are we to argue?

She said the women usually charge about $300 per hour for the five to 20 customers who visit on any given night.

We don’t know how to structure the men’s pricing yet,” Davis said.

By the inch?
