Rick Perry, Governor Good Hair, Takes a Great Mug Shot

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

perrywaronwomenRick Perry found  his niche.

Being indicted -- finally -- at the gubernatorial level.

It's going around, not the best year for conservative governors. Still praying that Chris Christie's moment is close. November is right around the proverbial corner.

It is critical that we all get our derrieres to the Voting Booth, friends. It's positively likely we may see (and hear) that giant fall from Trenton.

Perry

Superb footage by Maddow, she's been all over Perry. Two takes.

Maddow is ah-mazing, on every story - she does background and employs a fact checker. Remember those?

Fascinating piece on Perry by Cleveland Online.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- On paper, Texas Governor Rick Perry has been indicted by an Austin grand jury on two felony counts for coercion and abuse of official capacity. But in reality, Perry is being prosecuted for playing hardball politics and nothing more.

Perry's indictment stems from his response to Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg pleading guilty to DUI charges in 2013. Perry, along with other Texas officials, demanded Lehmberg resign, declaring her unfit to continue serving as D.A. and head of the State's Public Integrity Unit. When Lehmberg refused, Perry used his line-item veto power to slash the funding of the Public Integrity Unit. Travis County is the county seat of the Texas Capitol. Perry and other elected officials have long sought to have the powers of the State Public Integrity Unit Transfered to the State Attorney General's office.

The real abuse of power here seems to be the special prosecutor seeking to indict Perry for demanding the resignation of a D.A. convicted of DUI and using his constitutional line-item veto powers.

If politicians like Perry are going to start being jailed for being politicians and using authorized powers, it's going to take a lot of Texas illegal aliens to help build all the new prisons that will be needed to house them all.

Now there's yer' sign. Will Perry Operatives and Sugah Daddy's jump ship like the rats they are? Wouldn't be very nice to have poor GreenPeace stuck with him.

Perry's own words:

Ick.

I didn't think they'd be finding this level of Regressive Righteousness so handily, and at the deep end of decades of political fencing.

A month that appeared to hold a 'wild, wild west' extravaganza with badder-ass arms and bullets, a lynch flash-mob, military tanks and then by gawd shared a little whiskey to Boot at the golf club to unwind for an impossibly short time.

Deal. Done.

But uh oh - the president handling some new and massive idjitry … Bill O'Reilly had to shut his luxe vacation down and lumber back home. To talk some more smack about President Barack Obama

BLO'Reilly had to leave his vacation manse and demand that his driver proceed to to step on it … wheels up!

President Obama Publicly Turns Up the Volume on ISIL and Ferguson

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare
Reality

Reality ClayBennett, ChattanoogaTimes

Dude got Bin Laden,  never bury the headline on that, fellow liberals.

President Obama has feck to spare. As does Attorney General Eric Holder - he proved himself quite the crisis manager, diplomat and calming influence already, and we can clearly expect to have justice happen in Ferguson.

thanks, obama

It oft feels, deeply felt in fact, the Legendary Brass Top o' the neocon military (and militia) have permanently scheduled wet dreams about their goal of a Military Industry Complex Renaissance. Going to be all solved with absurd number ofbullets and money pouring in, don't you know?

From Rachel Maddow, a pair of tremendous segments. Finally(!) some coverage of the possibly - allegedly - certainly wry as can be , Doctor GFY. Would have seemed an amusement had the threatening man not have been wearing both combat gear and the power he felt surging through his veins.

And this gem:

The Last Word with Lawrence acquired fine footage as well.

As always, don your complimentary Orvis Waders and grab a large sized Method™ Troll Spray - we're going into FVX and it ain't pretty. Ferguson has the network on High Hysteria from morning to night.

I've never seen Hannity so smug and dismissive, and 's a big list of incidences. And to hype the absurd theory that it was actually Brown's crime. That was a WTF moment heard round the global airwaves, because Fox Noise needs a binder full of fact checkers.

The more feck the better.

Secretary Kerry has said that ISIL must be destroyed and will be crushed. The West Wing got some juicing going on in a cloakroom somewhere ? We may have looked, today, a micro-amount less idiotic as a nation than has been the norm.

John Oliver will have it translated, unpacked and given the perfect soupçon of Oliver very, very soon.

Andddddddd … truly 'tis all about power. Financial peaks are good for impressing your neighbors/family and really seeing a lot more of their clan.

From CNN and via Talking Points Memo

Fresh off his reporting assignment in Ferguson, Mo., CNN anchor Don Lemon said Tuesday that one of his producers heard a member of the National Guard using a racial epithet while serving in the troubled St. Louis suburb.

While hosting a town hall called "Black and White in America," Lemon was prompted to share an anecdote from his time in Ferguson, where the Missouri National Guard was deployed earlier this week to quell the violent protests that have erupted since the fatal police shooting of unarmed black 18-year-old Michael Brown.

"I’m just going to be honest with you," said Lemon, who is black. "Last night, one of my producers said that they — I won’t say if it’s a he or she because I don’t want to give anyone away — said they came in contact with one of the members of the National Guard and that they said, ‘You want to get out of here because you’re white because these n-words, you never know what they’re going to do.’ True story. I kid you not. 2014, a member of the National Guard. And my producer doesn’t lie. It is a true story.”

The Daily Kos took it to the mat, as well, they are so committed to the truth and actually (checked) facts.

And got some incredible footage.

Officer 'Go Fuck Yourself' got a tad out of hand. Meaning part inane part racist, and in possession of military=style weaponry. I spent a couple months in the USSR in my salad days, and it looked an awful like Ferguson at present.

If we needed proof that SOME egregiously bad apple cops are on the streets, gun fondling, here 'ya go … from Newsmax, and addressing the details of the beheading of veteran journalist Jim Foley.

A man identified as James Foley, his head shaven and dressed in an orange outfit similar to uniforms worn by prisoners at the U.S. military detention camp in Guantánamo, Cuba, is seen kneeling in the desert next to a man standing, holding a knife and clad head to toe in black.

"I call on my friends, family and loved ones to rise up against my real killers, the U.S. government, for what will happen to me is only a result of their complacency and criminality," the kneeling man says.

The man next to him, in a black mask, speaks in a British accent and says, "This is James Wright Foley, an American citizen, of your country. As a government, you have been at the forefront of the aggression towards the Islamic State."

Following his statement he beheads the kneeling man. At the end of the video, words on the side of the screen say, "Steven Joel Sotloff", as another prisoner in an orange jumpsuit is shown on screen. "The life of this American citizen, Obama, depends on your next decision," the masked man says.

We have GOT to get it together here, people … the gun fondlers are now killing with confidence, and I didn't read that in any part of the Constitution.

Unrest Revs up in Ferguson - On Day Ten

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

ferg2

Chris Hayes of All In has been johnny on the spot for several days in Ferguson, including a period where he and colleague Craig Melvin had some goodly-sized rocks hurled at them late last night - msnbc ran live courage into the wee hours.

Seriously?

ferguson8:18

I live on peaceful ground in Vermont, so it's been a matter of total cognitive dissonance to see Baghdad nightsbloom darkly in Missouri. Then this.

Yesterday, hopes were high for a Missouri demilitarized and headed back to normal. All day optimism rose … then dark fell. The Breaking News banners got virtually stuck in place from Ed Schultz and Reverend Al Sharpton, then Chris Hayes and Craig Melvin had excellent footage from Ferguson into the 2-3 a.m. hour.

handsup

From messnbc:

We are SO much a better country than this siege in Missouri indicates to the rest of the globe.
From The Kansas City Star:

FERGUSON, MO. Anger and frustration over the shooting death of an unarmed black teenager by a police officer has been expressed through prayer vigils and peaceful protests throughout this St. Louis suburb.

During the daytime.

When the sun goes down, violence has reigned. Some fine commentary at msnbc.

It did not last. As Trymaine Lee, Amanda Sakuma, et al  reported for msnbc.

Ferguson was once again confronted with "violence and chaos" overnight.

Police fired tear gas at protesters amid the sound of explosions, shots rang out and armored police trucks sped down Florissant Avenue. At least two people, both males, were shot "in the dark of night," Capt. Ron Johnson of the Missouri State Highway Patrol said at a press conference. Two guns and a Molotov cocktail were confiscated. There were two fires, one at a local business and another at an unoccupied residence, Johnson said. Police were hit with bottles and rocks. Thirty-one people had been arrested by 2 a.m. CT.

Johnson said police did not fire any bullets at protesters, whom he encouraged to turn out for demonstrations during the day.

police3

"There is a dangerous dynamic in the night," Johnson said, noting that the criminal activity overnight "came from a tiny minority of law-breakers."

Among those arrested last night were Getty Images photographer Scott Olson -- the latest in a series of journalists detained by police -- who was released soon after. As Rachel noted on the show, it was another "rough night" for so many in and around Ferguson, including the First Amendment.

In a pattern that has played out night after night since 18-year-old Michael Brown was shot and killed Aug. 9 by Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson, nonviolent gatherings are followed by looting and riots, tear gas and rubber bullets and dozens of arrests.

Chris Hayes and Craig Melvin got on the wrong end of some large thrown objects, the best bit of reaction was Hayes saying: "They're Angry, angry people, man!"

Attorney Eric Holder heads to Ferguson tomorrow, to lead an effort of down-simmering in accordance with the Federal and state goals of regaining order and justice in Missouri.

Hazing Girls Takes a Public Turn for the Worse re Violence

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

Rape-no
The footage below appalled, frightened, saddened and made me more than a little hot under the collar. Hazing has gone from good fun to felonies.

From CNN:

"Nobody brings a baseball bat or a paint pellet gun to a powder puff football game."

"This was a vicious attack," Soskin said. "This was a lynching."

The tape shows several students huddled together on the ground while others threw objects at them, including large plastic buckets.

innocent-hazing-beaufort-gazette

One girl walks behind the seated girls and slaps them on the back of the head. Another girl holds up what appears to be an intestine. At least one girl reported having a pig's intestine wrapped around her neck.

Witnesses also reported that urine, feces and fish guts were thrown and others said they had been forced to eat mud.

"Basically it started out as a fun hazing like our initiation into our senior year," said a junior girl who had been injured. "About 10 minutes into it everything changed -- buckets were flying ... people were bleeding. Girls were unconscious."

abc_wwyd_hazing2_090310_wn

Here's the kicker: the story was filed in 2003. Eleven years later hazing has escalated. There's a component of fear, violence and criminal activity had not diminished. Au contraire ...

This is some sick shite, and a warning about actual footage, the violence is tragic and scarifying, mind your minors and environment.

Peace and Justice in Ferguson, Very Elusive, says Rev. Al Sharpton

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

The Reverend Al Sharpton had plenty of things to say about Ferguson, police brutality,  from the NYDailyNews:

One shot, in critical condition as Ferguson, Mo., cops crack down on protesters, arrest seven for breaking curfew

A group of citizens refused to comply with Gov. Jay Nixon's midnight curfew and broke into a restaurant. Police responded by throwing smoke and tear gas to get them to comply. A man was shot and a police car was the target of another shooter as the tensions continued to escalate.

Americans don't enjoy curfews, never have … but when your town looks like a bad day in Baghdad, tempers will flare and burn for some time. From Melissa Harris-Perry:

What is it going to take  to reform the country back to decent common gun sense? I don't see a whole lot of smiling going on after a night of curfews, militarized police/federal investigators and shooting victims - one death.

Back to MHP:

A turn of events was made possible by the decision of the White House and Eric Holder to order a Federal Examination of Michael Brown's corpse.

police brutality in Atlantic City

Brown's family had been asking for a thorough autopsy, looking for justice and truth. And kept calling the West Wing for an assist.

Some more perspective from the Rev. Al:

Sharpton also took the opportunity to rail against Police Commissioner Bill Bratton’s “broken windows” approach to policing, which critics say unfairly targets minorities.

“There is a connection” between Brown and Garner, he said. “Both of them were victims of this aggressive policing of alleged low-level crime. There ain't no difference between dealing with looseys and dealing with telling kids to get out of the street.”
