Marie Dubois's Screen Test for 'Shoot the Piano Player' - Truffaut

This past week I've watched three films directed by Francois Truffaut

1. The 400 Blows
2. Shoot the Piano Player
3. Jules and Jim.

Marie Dubois, French actress, had a lead part in 'Shoot the Piano Player' (as Lena) and a smaller part in 'Jules in Jim (as Therese).

She's wonderful in both parts and I decided to see what I could find out about her.

From her Wiki

Marie Dubois (born Claudine Lucie Pauline Huzé; January 12, 1937 in Paris) is a French actress. She made her film debut in 1959, and first gained notice in Shoot the Piano Player. She has since played mainly supporting roles, and in the 1960s she appeared in New Wave films such as Jules and Jim and The Thief of Paris

From YouTube:

This is part of Marie Dubois' screen test from when she was auditioning for the movie "Shoot The Piano Player" (there was some more at the beginning but it didn't have audio). It was in the special features on the Criterion DVD of the movie and I thought it was funny/interesting (I like her body language and such...). There's already a clip of it on YouTube but it doesn't have subtitles so it's useless to people who don't speak French.

From YouTube

Paris, being my favorite city, was deserving of a longer film. I hope that this longer, yet 'small scratch of the surface' film of this magnificent city shall convince you to visit for yourselves and experience all that Paris has to offer first hand. Bon Voyage!

I definitely recommend taking a tour with 'Sight Seekers Delight' in Paris. Their various walking tours show you the best of Paris. The URL for their website is on the YouTube site.

Rural Nepal - Village Life in the Middle Hills

From YouTube

Life in the accessible "middle hills" of Nepal, recorded during the monsoon season (July) and in the dry season (November). The locations in this video all have road access and are easily accessible from Kathmandu. The Mahabharat Range of mountains lie between the ice clad peaks of the Himalayas to the north and the populous and flat Terai to the south. Elevations are between 1,500 and 2,700 metres. The southern slopes of the Mahabharat Range are steep and largely uninhabited, but the crest and northern slopes slope gently enough to support upland pastures and terraced fields. Nepal's densely populated middle hills begin along the crest, extending north through lower valleys and other "hills" until population thins out above 2,000 meters.
