Rand Paul, what if a Dem joked about trading YOU "instead of 5 Taliban"? Hmm?

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

not funny hahaha no

This tweet is already a couple of days old, but calling out Rand Paul for his tone deaf idiocy never gets old:

rand paul tweet Bergdahl trade Dems

He got a lot of Twitter backlash, but check out the very first reply he received:

"Isn't that redundant? and how would you tell the difference?"

Two class acts.

What patriots.

What jokesters.

What the f***.

The real joke is Rand Paul, a very, very bad one.

So let's get this straight. According to Paul and his fanboy @varifrank, the words Democrats and Taliban are interchangeable and/or President Obama should have handed over Dems to the Taliban. To be imprisoned. And tortured. And possibly killed. Isn't that a knee-slapper? Are we laughing yet?

No. We are not.

Some "jokes" are not funny, Rand Paul. And that you would make light of a very serious situation, that you would imply that Democrats' lives are worthless, that you would equate them with deadly enemies is pretty appalling.

He's your guy, GOP. This is the lowlife many in your party would like to see as commander in chief, residing in the White House, attending state dinners, handling delicate negotiations with other world leaders, and as the president who is responsible for the health and welfare of all Americans.

Go ahead, Republicans. Make Rand Paul your nominee. We dare you.

Fla. Gov. Rick Scott campaign staff made racist jokes (allegedly)

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

outreach my ass reach out inclusive

Psst! Rick Scott! Outreach means exactly that: reaching out. Outreach is also what the Republican Autopsy called for. Yes, they referred to their own post-2012 election report as an autopsy, because... suicide. They admitted that they needed "to do things differently."

The GOP not only needs a reinvention, they need an intervention.

Via Think Progress:

On late Thursday, billionaire Mike Fernandez abruptly resigned his post as the finance co-chair of Governor Rick Scott’s (R-FL) reelection campaign. The prominent Cuban-American health care mogul’s departure has fueled rumors of racism among Scott’s campaign staff.

Tensions between Scott’s campaign staff and Fernandez had been building for weeks. And the last straw, according to people within the campaign who spoke with the Miami Herald this weekend, was an incident in which several of Scott’s campaign staffers allegedly began joking around in a cartoonish, over-the-top Mexican accent while on the way to a Mexican restaurant.

They just can't help themselves.

Think Progress has more.

VIDEO- N. Carolina GOP lawmaker: Obama not a traitor because he hasn't "done one thing to harm Kenya."

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

Pittman No. Carolina racist Obama kenya

North Carolina GOP state Rep. Larry Pittman is a real card. What a comedian. He's a regular Laugh. Riot! Italicized!

No, I'll do you one better: He oughta get his very own late night talk show... so we can turn him off.

Here's what he told his supporters at a town hall meeting in Concord, via Taegan. Equally disturbing: the crowd laughed:

Someone had posted something with a picture of Barack Obama and across it said "traitor." And, you know, I don't always agree with the guy, I certainly didn't vote for him but I gotta defend him on this one.

I just don't think it's right at all to call Barack Obama a traitor. There's a lot of things he's done wrong but he is not a traitor. Not as far as I can tell. I haven't come across any evidence yet that he has done one thing to harm Kenya.

VIDEO: CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) audience laughs, applauds Obama "is on his way to hell" crack

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

not funny Via nataliedee.com

Leave it to the National Rifle Association President David Keene to inspire an outburst suggesting that President Obama is "on his way" to hell. And leave it to a conservative conference to laugh and clap at such a crack:

Keene, speaking at a regional Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) outside of St. Louis, Missouri:

If we remember what it is we’re about, and what it is we want to accomplish, and if we organize around those principles and stand for them, people will stand with us. They will make those calls. They will pound the pavement. They will demand of those who they elect to public office and whose salaries they pay through their taxes that they represent them, and not some mayor from New York, or some president from Chicago who’s on his way to Lord knows where when he leaves office.

Audience member:

Hell! [audience laughter]

Not a word from Mr. NRA admonishing such a hostile and tasteless response from the (likely) "Christian" audience member.

Timing is Everything Dept: Lindsey Graham tweets 'joke' about John McCain dying in Syria

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

nice glass of stfu

I just got back after spending the day with my family, scanned a few tweets to catch up, and ran across this one from my Twitter pal Christine Pelosi, totally unaware of the context:

pelosi tweet graham joke

Then I saw this:

graham tweet Syria

First rule of comedy: It has to be funny, not only to the joke teller, but to the audience. That's kind of mandatory.

Wisecracking about a diplomatic mission now makes your obsession and accusations about the Benghazi Not-Scandal off limits, Linds. You blew it. You were tasteless, you showed terrible judgment, and your timing was atrocious.

Call me crazy, but I was under the impression that Memorial Day is the time to honor the sacrifices of our amazing military and dedicated officials, as opposed to say, cheapening them.

Lindsey apparently didn't get the non-edited memo.

Sheriff who told Obama assassination "joke" now compares his critics to Nazis

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

not funny obama

What is it with Republicans telling utterly tasteless, often appalling "jokes"?

Often, "humor" is nothing more than an excuse for some racist or misogynistic bottom feeder to express his hostility and then excuse it by saying it was just in good fun.

The most recent "joke" happened at a Massachusetts Republican Party St. Patrick’s Day breakfast and was "met with scattered laughter". Why it even got that response is beyond comprehension. Via Blue Mass Group:

Among the speakers was the Sheriff of Plymouth County, Joe McDonald. He did venture into the tasteless. Here’s what he thought was funny - a joke about assassinating President Obama. ...

McDonald offered a joke about Barack Obama being visited in a dream by three past presidents, who offered advice on how to improve the country. Lincoln’s advice: “Go to the theater.”

Apparently, Sheriff Joe (what is it with vile Republicans named Joe?)  thinks nothing of suggesting that President Obama should be assassinated. What do you want to bet this idiot calls himself "pro-life"?

After getting criticized for his sharp wit and flawless judgment, Think Progress is reporting that he's doubling down. Not only is he standing by what he said, he's justifying it by claiming that the joke is 150 years old... and then compared his critics to Nazis:

The irony of it is, it’s perfectly OK for them [liberals] to make those jokes about President Bush or someone from the other side of the aisle. I can imagine what some of this place comes from not 2013 United States, it’s more like Nazi Germany in 1938.” [...]

The basic concept of it has been around since the Andrew Johnson administration..."

See, if a joke has been around long enough, it stops being offensive. Who knew?

Think Progress noted, "as a public safety official who has taken an oath of office, he is held to a higher standard that some unnamed liberals or political activists of the 1860s."

That would work out better if Sheriff Joe held himself to any standards to begin with.

VIDEO ADDED: Bobby Jindal makes waterboarding joke at #CPAC2013

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

not funny hahaha no

Here are a few examples of what conservatives think is funny:

Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) Cracks Joke About Waterboarding At Senate Hearing:

John McCain jokes about “mercilessly interrogating, waterboarding” John Kerry at confirmation hearing:

Bobby Jindal at CPAC just minutes ago:

tweet terkel jindal waterboard joke cpac 2013

As I've said before, the above lame attempts at wit (or in their cases, half wit) by Republicans inexplicably continue to get laughs... from other Republicans. And each time this occurs, these pathetic clowns get a pass on this particular brand of what passes for humor.

Who writes their material, Dick Cheney?
