Sheriff who told Obama assassination “joke” now compares his critics to Nazis

not funny obama

What is it with Republicans telling utterly tasteless, often appalling “jokes”?

Often, “humor” is nothing more than an excuse for some racist or misogynistic bottom feeder to express his hostility and then excuse it by saying it was just in good fun.

The most recent “joke” happened at a Massachusetts Republican Party St. Patrick’s Day breakfast and was “met with scattered laughter”. Why it even got that response is beyond comprehension. Via Blue Mass Group:

Among the speakers was the Sheriff of Plymouth County, Joe McDonald. He did venture into the tasteless. Here’s what he thought was funny - a joke about assassinating President Obama.

McDonald offered a joke about Barack Obama being visited in a dream by three past presidents, who offered advice on how to improve the country. Lincoln’s advice: “Go to the theater.”

Apparently, Sheriff Joe (what is it with vile Republicans named Joe?)  thinks nothing of suggesting that President Obama should be assassinated. What do you want to bet this idiot calls himself “pro-life”?

After getting criticized for his sharp wit and flawless judgment, Think Progress is reporting that he’s doubling down. Not only is he standing by what he said, he’s justifying it by claiming that the joke is 150 years old… and then compared his critics to Nazis:

The irony of it is, it’s perfectly OK for them [liberals] to make those jokes about President Bush or someone from the other side of the aisle. I can imagine what some of this place comes from not 2013 United States, it’s more like Nazi Germany in 1938.” [...]

The basic concept of it has been around since the Andrew Johnson administration…”

See, if a joke has been around long enough, it stops being offensive. Who knew?

Think Progress noted, “as a public safety official who has taken an oath of office, he is held to a higher standard that some unnamed liberals or political activists of the 1860s.”

That would work out better if Sheriff Joe held himself to any standards to begin with.

As I’ve said before, the above lame attempts at wit (or in their cases, half wit) by Republicans inexplicably continue to get laughs… from other Republicans. And each time this occurs, these pathetic clowns get a pass on this particular brand of what passes for humor.

“Keep calm and rape them” tee shirt for sale on Amazon UK

wtf smaller

UPDATE: I ran a search today and it looks like these have been pulled.

rape tee amazon 3Link

rape tee amazon 1Link

rape tee amazon 2Link

Was this intended to be some sick joke? Is the site for real? Is the tee shirt? Have I been punk’d?

I don’t think so. I Googled “UK Amazon” and did a search. The top photo is what I found, the other two links were sent to me by Twitter pal @samuelpeepses.

If it is, indeed, supposed to be “funny”, then the “joke” is at the expense of women who have suffered traumatic, life-changing, devastating violence. If not, which is as unimaginable as hawking this dreck, does Amazon bother to screen their submissions? Why would they sell such an appalling tee? And profit off of it?

Nice message to send out to the kiddies, too, right Amazon?

Conservative super-PAC FreedomWorks made video of fake panda bear performing oral sex on fake Hillary Clinton

hillary panda masks

There conservatives go again, showing off those family values of theirs. And by family values I mean hypocrisy, incredibly vile taste, and sexism.

David Corn at Mother Jones is reporting on tea party group and super-PAC FreedomWorks (where Dick Armey used to work) producing a video of a fake panda bear performing fake oral sex on a fake Hillary Clinton. The video was scrapped, but that won’t erase the sick incentive, the reporting, the mental image, or the disgusting subject matter:

In one segment of the film, according to a former official who saw it, [Adam Brandon, executive vice president of the group] is seen waking from a nap at his desk. In what appears to be a dream or a nightmare, he wanders down a hallway and spots a giant panda on its knees with its head in the lap of a seated Hillary Clinton and apparently performing oral sex on the then-secretary of state. Two female interns at FreedomWorks were recruited to play the panda and Clinton. One intern wore a Hillary Clinton mask. The other wore a giant panda suit that FreedomWorks had used at protests to denounce progressives as panderers. (See herehere, and here.) Placing the panda in the video, a former FreedomWorks staffer says, was “an inside joke.”

Another FreedomWorks staffer who worked there at the time confirms that ”Yes, this video was created.” [...]

How was that not some form of sexual harassment?” a former FreedomWorks official asks, noting that two female interns had been requested to act out a pretend sex scene. “And there were going to be thousands of Christian conservatives at this thing. This was a terrible lack of judgment.

“Lack of judgment.” That’s putting it mildly.

FreePAC, a FreedomWorks conference in July, 2012, was supposed to have shown the video, but that never happened. Apparently some of the saner staffers were appalled enough to change a few minds.

According to a former FreedomWorks official, Adam Brandon defended the film. He found it to be creative and funny. To repeat, he found it to be  creative and funny.

As we’ve noted in previous posts, including AUDIO– Fox mocks 102-year-old who waited hours to vote: “What’s the big deal? She was happy, conservatives have a very twisted, perverted definition of the word “funny.”

Happy Valentine’s Day!

AUDIO– Fox mocks 102-year-old who waited hours to vote: “What’s the big deal? She was happy.”

not funny obama

Via Media Matters.

102-year-old Desiline Victor made two trips and had to stand in line for hours before she could vote. Ms. Victor was a guest at President Obama’s State of the Union Address last night, and when he told her story and informed the audience of her age, there were audible gasps:

She refused to give up.

But at least 201,000 did not vote in Florida because of frustration with long lines. I’m sure the caring, sensitive, patriotic talent pool at Fox thought that was a real laugh riot.

This must have cracked them up, too: Graph: How long it took blacks, whites, Hispanics to vote in 2012. One guess who waited in line the least amount of time.

Here are most of the ugly quotes that reveal host Brian Kilmeade’s, along with Fox’s Martha MacCallum’s and Bill Hemmer’s, true colors sliming out as they mocked the efforts of centenarian Desiline Victor, who somehow managed to exercise her right to vote. They were sprinkled with nasty giggles and vile little snickers:

  • What’s the big deal? She was happy. She waited on line, she voted, she was happy that she was there to vote.
  • What was she the victim of? Rashes on the bottom of her feet?
  • “Can you hear them whispering? ‘Did she try to hit you with the “I’m 102 and I’ve been on line five hours”‘?”
  • “Is she gonna try to give you that one again?”
  • She said the same thing when she was 98! I wasn’t buying it then, I’m not buying it now!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to scream my lungs out, down a few drinks, and then express my gratitude to anyone who will listen that I have absolutely zero to do with the offensive, despicable broadcasts that ooze from Fox.

bush torture larger

John McCain via CBS:

“We look forward to interrogating him at his hearing next week, mercilessly…”

“We will bring back, for the only time, waterboarding to get the truth out of him.”

The above lame attempt at wit (or in his case, half wit) by John McCain occurred during a press conference on Syria. He was referring to his conversation with Sen. John Kerry regarding his confirmation hearing next week. Of course, McCain was a prisoner of war who has experienced torture, so he’s sure to get a pass on this particular brand of what passes for humor.

I’m sure BushCo is in stitches. Who writes his material, Dick Cheney?

Added: Let’s not forget this previous episode of McCain’s sidesplitting hijinx:

A Mexican food restaurant in South Carolina features the above tee shirt and considers it appropriate and funny. It features a box trap with two tacos placed just-so to entice undocumented immigrants.

Isn’t that a knee slapper? I bet you can’t wait to buy one of your very own, because hey, they are clever-r-r-r! Nothing says “witty” like a racist tee shirt.

And by witty I mean offensive as hell and idiotic.

NBCLatino has reaction to the shirts here, as well as this:

Taco Cid did not respond to an NBC Latino request for comment but updated its website with a statement.

Our t-shirts were created as a witty and comical statement regarding ILLEGAL immigrants. There are NO racial nor hate remarks towards any specific ethnic group. Taco Cid and its employees are not racists,” the statement continued. ”As most tax paying Americans, we do believe ILLEGAL immigrants are taxing the system we support and live under, thereby, causing us to work harder and pay more taxes in support of their illegal activities which our government has simply chosen to look the other way. Is it racist to disagree with those who are not supporting the American system?”

Taco Cid employees wear the shirts and they are also available for purchase, according to Think Progress.

Brian Cohen, is the owner of BeWild.com, which also sells the shirts and says the shirts are not his designs — they just sell them.

Oh well, then, if it’s a “statement regarding ILLEGAL immigrants” it’s perfectly acceptable, A-OK, hunky dory. Carry on!

As of now, Yelp.com has them at a one-star rating:

“Drug front” indeed. You’d have to be on drugs to patronize that place.
