Maher: GOP "Zombie Lies won't stay dead." (VIDEO)

zombie lies bill maher

On Real Time last night, Bill Maher's rant was a particularly good one, all about how the GOP perpetuates lies. He started out mocking (what else?) politicians in both parties and how they invented their own euphemism for lying: "I misspoke." He then went on to nail Republicans on one of their own rules: "When they get caught in a lie, they don't have to stop telling it," as opposed to Democrats, who are more apt to admit their lies and correct the record. Maher noted that Dems understand that "there's this thing called observable reality." Republican talking points, he continued, "which have been disproven, remain! Like a guest who's been asked to leave a party, but does not! It reminds me of a horror movie where you think you've killed the lie, but it won't stay dead. Which is why I call them "Zombie Lies."

He came up with a whole ballot box full of examples, such as the mythical Obamacare "job killer" (that didn't happen) and "death panels" (there were none), not to mention the big bad "government takeover" of health care (that never materialized). He brought up nearly as many Zombie Lies as the House GOP has ACA repeal bills. He slammed "trickle down" economic policies, fracking, you name it. Watch:

Take it away, Bill Maher:

Finally, New Rule: Now that there's been an uproar over all the neocons who lied about the Iraq war with no consequences, someone must tell me why there isn't a similar uproar over all the Republicans who lied about Obamacare with no consequences.

It's been four years since the bill passed. Has anybody come across even one death panel? The next liberal to tell a Republican "You’re entitled to an opinion but not your own facts" should really just admit they’ve never seen Fox News....

Zombie Lies are neither alive nor dead-- like Dick Cheney...

They pass a Zombie Lie down to dumber and dumber people who believe it more and more...

And when you think the Zombie Lie has finally gone to die at the Idea Hospice of the Absolutely Stupidest People on Earth, there it is being retweeted by Donald Trump.

Bill Maher Revives "Blacktracking" for the Bergdhalzi TeaNuts

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

Blacktrack

Ponder this particular panel on Friday night's Real Time with the inimitable Bill Maher ...

Nicole Wallace, Bush The Dumber shill and (terrifyingly regular) bleating head on Schmoe Scarborough's morning roundtable of idiocy. A mediocre conservative National Review 'comic' whose name happily escaped. Baltimore's genius John Waters as the pop creative guest -- and Anthony Dicque Picque Weiner. In full NYC fighting mode.

We might just have to start loving us some Weiner again if he keeps decimating fools like Wallace.

The opening segment guest set the tone, it was a liberal wet dream. Holy Roller and Defender of Straight Families, Ralph Reed, actually had the stones to take on America's Best Atheist. I suspect Reed limped off stage afterwards for scrotum ice and a shot of moonshine before sprinting back to LAX.

When Reed tried to assign Christian religion value, boldly Bogarting “over half of the social capital” in the world.

Maher drawled, “Ralph, I could list so many things that are bad that religion has been responsible for: most wars, the Crusades, burning witches at the stake, 9/11–I could go on.”

Reed did the obligatory Chrrrrristian Charity Fallback Position, “Homeless shelters–90% of which are connected with a house of worship, many charities … " [yada yada yada] Maher then dropped the coup de grace: “Of course, but you can do those things without believing in magic. And people do.”
Enjoy for yourself.

On the Infamous Five Bearded Men that hypocrisy dispenser John McCain now fears more than Sarah Palin's mouth, Maher was in rare form.

On Open Carry, Maher quotably opined that the deadly Strap On penis-enhancers should stay out of stores and restaurants ... after all,  he doesn't go around randomly blowing bong hits at innocent diners at the Olive Garden. [Though Nicole Wallace was clearly in deep need.]

He skewered the GunNuttery as only Maher can. Bravo to Bill Maher for taking them on, how are we supposed to know that a guy with a military-style strap-on at Target isn't there to spray bullets in the Garden and Patio section?!

“You guys aren’t just firearm enthusiasts, you’re ammosexuals. And before you try and deny that you have some sort of unnatural romantic relationship with your gun, consider this: You’re taking it out to dinner. Because it completes you. Get a room.”

Maher Rules. Praise Jeebus he plays for our team.

Hey climate change deniers: State emission cuts have NOT brought economic ruin.

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

another talking point bites the dust

map climate change emission cuts

Climate deniers-- hey you, over there on the right, I'm talkin' to you-- wail and moan about regulating carbon emissions because, tyranny!!!! and Armageddon!!!! and economic disaster!!!! That sound you hear is the coal industry shaking cash from their enormous wallets to buy their way out of cleaner air and water standards. Because, tyranny!!!! and Armageddon!!!! and economic disaster!!!!

Well, they're wrong. And there is proof that cutting emissions will not bring economic ruin to America. Sweartogod.

Via the New York Times:

The cries of protest have been fierce, warning that President Obama’s plan to cut greenhouse gases from power plants will bring soaring electricity bills and even plunge the nation into blackouts. By the time the administration is finished, one prominent critic said, “millions of Americans will be freezing in the dark.”

OMG 1

That sounds positively terrifying! Oh em gee! We will become a nation of freeze-dried citizens! All in the ironic name of saving lives!

Just a sec... hold that thought. I'm hearing through my imaginary news anchor earpiece that at least 10 states have already achieved emission cuts by the amount the president has fecklessly Kenyan-dictated-- some in excess of that-- and more states will make similar progress before the deadline of 2030.

Don't those tree-hugging, green-tinged fools realize their Kenyan-dictated, feckless, reckless actions will bring economic ruin?!

[T]heir strides so far have not brought economic ruin. In New England, a region that has made some of the biggest cuts in emissions, residential electricity bills fell 7 percent from 2005 to 2012, adjusted for inflation. And economic growth in the region ran slightly ahead of the national average.

Oh.

Via onamatopoeia.wordpress.com

Yet another Republican talking point bites the dust. Imagine that. Quel surprise.

Over in Europe, they're headed toward a 43 percent emission cut from power plants and "other energy-intensive industries" by the same year. That makes our measly 30% cuts look pretty... feckless.

I see climate change: "One day there will be money in the pockets of dead people"

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

i see dead people 2 climate change

new rules 2

Regular readers may recall that my mantra has always been how shortsighted Republicans are, especially when it comes to climate change. Seriously, how utterly idiotic of them to prioritize profits over lives, especially for a party that claims to be "pro-life." The hypocrisy is mind-boggling, as are their perverted attempts to obstruct every bit of legislation that would help Americans live healthier lives.

My other mantra has been that all those dirty dollars that Big Oil/Big Biz pull in with their drill-baby-drilling, fracking, and other reckless endeavors will be utterly useless to them if we start to choke on toxic fumes and lose what's left of Mother Nature's diminishing masterpieces.

Note to Big Oil and GOP polluters: You'll wheeze, hack, and scrounge for climate-proof digs right along with the rest of us.

And with that, here is today's Los Angeles Times letter to the editor from a soul mate, because our voices matter:

The debate over reducing carbon dioxide emissions to combat global warming brings us to the truth: Saving money is more important than saving the planet. In its shortsightedness, big business — led by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce — will fight this proposal to the death. ("New EPA rule seeks to cut carbon emissions 30% by 2030," June 1)

Global warming naysayers ignore rising sea levels, drowning islands, higher pollution levels and increases in pulmonary disease. One day there will be money in the pockets of dead people lying on the surface of a dead planet that is no longer able to provide sustenance to the inheritors of our world.

Billy Kristol v. Bill Maher:  Too Delicious To Deny Yourself, Liberals

Written by guest contributor, "hardybear" of the wonderful Free Range Talk site,

"That's childish(!), " Seriously Scolded one miked man. Who has been the stentorian leader of the conservative crap-rag "Weekly Standard" since Rupert M. bankrolled it, a dedicated Iraq [and any and all other] War proponent and his own biggest fan ... William Kristol. Reduced to a carnelian-faced stammering middle-schooler in ten Real Time with Bill Maher minutes.

Military spending is sacred, yadda yadda yadda -- "Have you ever met a war you didn't love?!?" was zinged in by the razor-sharp host shortly before he visibly mastered some Kristol Rage and calmly suggested, "Let's move on ... Because I'm Pissed" at 10:31p.m. Live Vermont time. [4 Min. 10 seconds into the first Vid above.]

Kristol: "You made my night!" ... BoOOO! HisSSS! from Real Time fans and those of us  gleefully playing along at home; because Billy K is an arrogant, braggadocio-driven piss-poor excuse for a pundit.

He was ably partnered in neo-con strait-jacketed Margaret Hoover, Kristol's wingman and co-defense for the Military Industrial Complex. I do not recommend you read her book "American Individualism" even if she is Herbert Hoover's great-granddaughter ...Hoover was vastly more palatable in the Rear View.  It's SO not a stretch to picture the ambitious blonde crooning Bomb, Bomb Iran from the top of a Baby Grand.
The 'to his right' at table special guest, Bruce Dern, was a bloody return to sanity. How often can you say that? It's Maher's World after all.

The show then took a bit of a wondrous turn. [Video above.] Dern told a heartfelt and rarely heard tale of his own Dad's law partner, Adlai Stevenson, taking the fledgling NYC actor Bruce to supper and talking presidential campaign politics. It was riveting ... who knew Dern's great-great-Grandpa was the first non-Mormon governor of Utah?!?

And for the true Moments of Guffaw, Maher's last segment is a brilliant satire on income inequality and other assorted things Presently Pissing Him Off.  Praise Jeebus he is on  our side, liberals!

VIDEO-- Maher: CA not worried about "nonsense that keeps Fox up at night, " NRA = "Nuts, Racists, A-holes."

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

maher california

On HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher" last Friday, Maher capped the show with one of his best rants ever. This one was about my home state of California, a"moderate liberal nation" that the rest of the country should, and eventually will and actually does, emulate.

DKos provides the transcript. Here are some excerpts:

California is creating the kind of modern, liberal nation the country as a whole can only dream about.  And not only can't the rest of the country stop us — we're going to drag you with us.

But in 2010, when other states were busy electing whatever Tea Partier claimed to hate government the most, we elected a guy who actually liked it — Jerry Brown.  And without a Republican governor and without a legislature cock-blocked by Republicans,  a $27 billion deficit was turned into a surplus.

How?  Well it's amazing, really.  We did something economists call cutting spending and raising taxes.  (audience applause)  I know, it sounds like crazy science fiction, but you see, here in California, we're not just gluten-free and soy-free and peanut-free, we're Tea Party free!

I mean, Texas could do it too, but they love "freedom" too much. Like when that unregulated fertilizer plant blew up.

No, California is not perfect, but it is in our nature to try new things.  For example, now that it's clear Obamacare is going to be a success here, the movement to just go all the way to single payer is gathering steam.

You know, it's so ironic, the two things conservatives love the most — the free market and states rights — are the two things that are going to bend this country into California's image as a socialist fagtopia.

Maybe our constipated Congress in Washington can't pass gun control laws, but we just did.  Because we don't give a shit about the NRA.  Out here, that stands for "Nuts, Racists, and Assholes."

And while other state governments are working with Jesus to make abortion more miserable ... California is making it easier.  And while immigrants are demonized in Washington and elsewhere, in California we just OK'd driver's licenses for undocumented aliens.

That's right, we're letting them drive cars — just like white people!  Because we can't be worrying about all the nonsense that keeps Fox News viewers up at night...
