The L.A. Times is reporting that "enraged" bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev was kicked out of the Islamic Society of Boston mosque in Cambridge about three months ago after he (allegedly) stood up and started (allegedly) shouting at the imam. His (alleged) outburst was directed at Martin Luther King and how his name shouldn't have been brought up during the service.

The imam had referred to King as someone to emulate according to a worshiper who goes by the name Muhammad.

Via the Los Angeles Times:

“You cannot mention this guy because he’s not a Muslim!” Muhammad recalled Tamerlan shouting, shocking others in attendance.

“He’s crazy to me,” Muhammad said. “He had an anger inside.… I can’t explain what was in his mind.”

Tamerlan was then kicked out of the prayer service for his outburst, Muhammad recalled. “You can’t do that,” Muhammad said of shouting at the imam.

Tamerlan apparently did return, and he had no more outbursts, per Muhammad.

But a trustee of the mosque, Anwar Kazmi, said Tamerlan wasn't removed, but was talked to later by mosque leaders and calmed down. Kazmi also said it was a one-time occurrence.

The other mosque attendee, who identified himself only as Haithen, described Dzhokhar Tsarnaev as nice, friendly and “really laid back.”

Tamerlan Tsarnaev was different though. “His persona was not really so nice,” this worshiper said.

No, planting bombs and murdering people is "not really so nice," on that I think we can all agree.

Video- Joplin, Missouri mosque razed in fire; 2nd blaze this summer

DHS report back on the table.

JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) — A mosque in southwest Missouri burned to the ground early Monday in the second fire to hit the Islamic center in little more than a month, and investigators spent the day combing through the wreckage searching for evidence of arson.

No injuries were reported, but the Islamic Society of Joplin's building was a total loss after the blaze, first reported at about 3:30 a.m., the Jasper County Sheriff's Office said. As of late Monday, nobody had been arrested in connection with the fire.

(snip)

It was the second time this summer investigators had been called to the Islamic center, located in a former church on the outskirts of Joplin. A fire reported around the same time on July 4 has been determined to be arson, but no charges have been filed. The FBI has released a video of a suspect caught on surveillance video and offered a $15,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in that fire.

Remember the dreaded "Ground Zero Mosque"? It opened... without a whiff of "refudiation".

After all the hooplah, all the whoop-dee-doo, all the Islamaphobic slurs and right wing attacks, all the gigantic 24/7 controversy that was covered by all the "news" dee jays... yes, after all that, the so-called "Ground Zero Mosque" (that isn't a mosque and isn't located at Ground Zero) opened without a peep from protesters or a whiff of controversy.

That's right, the Park 51 Islamic community center is open and no evil Muslim terrorists have descended up on New Yorkers.

Via Think Progress:

There was no sign of protest at the Park51 community center last night. It opened its doors to the public in lower Manhattan Wednesday, without the opposition that had surrounded the project for a year.

The center was crowded for most of the evening — with visitors who said they came to see the new photography exhibition and others who were interested in the place itself. Brooklyn’s Jean Stevens said she’s not surprised the event went off without a hitch. “It seems like there’s not much of huge response to this reception or to the mosque anymore, and so I wonder whether if people have forgotten it now that its not such a hot topic.”

The cultural and community center peacefully and quietly opened its doors and nothing happened. And that's exactly what should have occurred a year before it opened its doors.

Refudiate that, Palin.

Fire set at Oregon Islamic center where Portland bomb plot suspect worshipped

It doesn't really affect the arson, but man, something about this whole thing just smells bad, and I'm not the only one who thinks so- The FBI successfully thwarts its own Terrorist plot.

Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation have been called in to aid the investigation into an arson fire at the Corvallis mosque where Portland bomb plot suspect Mohamed Osman Mohamud sometimes attended.

The fire at the Salman Al-Farisi Islamic Center was discovered by an on-duty police sergeant at about 2:15 a.m. today. It took firefighters 10 minutes to put it out and it damaged about 80 percent of the office it was contained to. No one was injured.

FBI spokeswoman Beth Anne Steele said it's standard for the agency to become involved in attacks on religious groups, but that the possible connection between the fire and the arrest of Mohamud makes their involvement even more important.

"The FBI would not tolerate any retaliation on the Muslim community as a result of that arrest," Steele said. "We have an ongoing relationship with the Muslim leaders
in Corvallis. This is of high concern to them."

Steele said she could not say if the fire is related to Mohamud's arrest.
