A Populace Pump For Electile Dysfunction

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

Electile Dysfunction

It doesn't get much funnier than this -- and what candidate hasn't worried at one time or another of suffering from "ELECTILE DYSFUNCION?" This one may actually give you a boner, er, Boehner. See if the orange-tinged House Speaker knows the difference as his opponent seeks to pump up the votes against him.

From Raw Story:

House Speaker John Boehner’s Tea Party challenger in the Ohio Republican primary, J.D. Winteregg, released a parody advertisement today that accuses the speaker of suffering from “Electile Dysfunction.”

The Tea Party Leadership Fund PAC decided to back Winteregg after internal polling revealed that only 25 percent of Rep. Boehner’s constituents favored him over a generic Tea Party challenger. The PAC initiated a “two-pronged approach” similar to the one that Scott Brown used to catapult him into office: a dedicated “ground game” on the local front coupled with a national fundraising campaign.

Calling Robin Hood -- Nefarious Sheriff of Nottingham Has Just Returned

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

Robin Hood

As a boy growing up outside Boston, I had a wild imagination and a lot of heroes. There was cowboy favorite Roy Rogers, future space adventurer, Buck Rogers, but most fun was the legendary outlaw, archer Robin Hood. He and his men (plus Maid Marion) were a band of outlaws who found ways to disrupt the mad rantings and oppressive actions of the evil and despotic Sheriff of Notttingham. Let's face it. Without a really awful foe, there's just not a great hero or heroes. And the meanest of the mean was the Sheriff raiding Sherwood Forest.

Paul RyanPAUL RYAN AKA SHERIFF OF NOTTINGHAM

With the good king Richard away fighting religious wars on behalf of  his people, the royal brother and evil, calculating Prince John took the reins of England and trampled justice wherever he found it. His pleasure was in sticking it to the masses and stripping them of all of their earthly possessions. And his did it with his man, the Sheriff of Nottingham.

The results were catastrophic for all but the rich. That select few thrived while the Sheriff demonstrated villainy at the highest level. This guy stopped at nothing as he represented the top 1% of the richest royals out there.

So much for folklore. Whether there really was a Robin Hood or a Sheriff of Nottingham is debatable. The same could be said for Superman, Mighty Mouse, even Underdog.

Mighty Mouse vs Underdog

To get a taste of what's going on in real life, we have to look at the real Sheriff of Nottingham who comes to us straight out of the the Sherwood forest of Wisconsin . The kings of the rich, the Koch Brothers, have deigned him with the powers of the purse-strings. The Sheriff is merely a puppet and he's doing their bidding. With the new Ryan budget, the GOP kings have unleashed the Sheriff on the US masses.

To provide more riches and power for the super rich, they want to destroy every and all of the people's programs of survival. They wish to cut Medicare, education funding and loans, Social Security, women's rights, Food assistance, and Health Care. In return the rich get tax relief and the poor get worse living conditions. It must sound fair if you're a royal, but most of us aren't.

There is a Robin Hood who is trying to once again split an arrow down the middle to show up the mad and unconscionable Sheriff Paul Ryan. He's Bernie Sanders. And if you want to see his proclamation of war against the evil doers and their merry band of morons, check this out:

Our country is sick with the cancer of Conservatism. This may be your last warning, liberals.

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

conservative, conservatism

Need a compelling tirade on conservatism? Meet our new guest ranter @Marnus3, who is graciously sharing posts from his site "The Poorly Written Political Blog." Marnus3, aka Joe Santorsa, aka one of my regular (and favorite) BLUNT video contributors knows how to sound off with the best of them. He does not write poorly, by the way. He's a hilarious, creative tweeter and BLUNT commentator, he's astute, and he's a really, really nice guy.

Welcome in, Joe! And his rant about conservatism and what we liberals need to do about it begins in 5... 4... 3... 2... 1...

Conservatism is like cancer, and like cancer it comes in many forms and levels of aggression.  Some are more subtle and mask the symptoms until it is too late. Some are more aggressive and have to be treated immediately. They range from the Republican party, to the Tea Party, to hate groups and Rush Limbaugh. But make no mistake, whatever form or no matter how aggressive, these diseases of society must be dealt with or they will kill.

There is a tendency in our society, as in the care of our own health, to ignore things and tell ourselves that everything is all right and bad things only happen to someone else. This is the advantage a cancer like Conservatism has. It hides in the shadows, hoping we don’t notice, and by the time we do, the damage is done. This happened to liberals not too long ago, and we are now struggling to survive and hang on to the life that used to be our great country.

Ironically, it started with the election of Barack Obama. Euphoria spread through our ranks and we felt we had finally slayed the twin dragons of hate and war and were headed toward a better world. We felt good. We felt invincible, so we celebrated, perhaps too long. Then came the first sign of the disease, the Tea Party. At first we ignored it, we laughed at it, we said to ourselves it’s nothing and just ignored it. That was our first mistake. It grew, feeding off the hate, greed and bigotry that was built into its DNA.

The cancer first manifested itself as resistance to helping the victims of the greed of Wall Street, then later spread as opposition to the Affordable Health Care Act. By some miracle, though, we recovered for a while. Some relief was given to the casualties of the Great Bush Recession and a form of health care was passed. So we told ourselves those symptoms were nothing. Everything was all right. Except it wasn’t. The temporary relief of symptoms only meant the disease was regrouping and would come back with a vengeance. That was our second mistake, ignoring the mid-term elections of 2010.

Liberals stayed home in November, 2010 basking in the glow of our new president and his recent legislative achievements. Life was good, the symptoms had abated and we felt safe. So we went on vacation. Conservatives did not. They went to the polls in great numbers and by the time we recognized the disease was back, it was in control. They won the House of Representatives, state houses and legislatures, school boards, and city councils. The disease of Conservatism had metastasized to every level of our government.

Now we were really sick and the manifestations of the disease were many. Women’s rights to health care, the right to marry whom you pleased, even the right to vote was under attack. Aid to the hungry, help for the unemployed all that made us human was waning. Every cell in our body politic was being ravaged by this malignancy. So we went to the doctor, but medical science could only do so much at this stage. We managed to save the presidency, but the disease already had taken its toll.

So this may be your last warning, liberals. Our country is sick with the cancer of Conservatism. Much has been lost in the time since 2008, when we felt so good about our health. But like cancer of the body, there is always hope when there is life. It is getting late, but it is not too late. Pay attention, educate yourself on the issues, do the same for your friends and neighbors. Tweet a tweet, warn your Facebook friends, volunteer for a liberal candidate, and most of all, vote this November. Vote like your life depends on it, because at this late stage of the disease, it does.

How Embarrassing - Obamacare Works For Former N.H. GOP Chairman

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

Obamacare

Sometimes you can't win for losing, or so the old adage goes. And in New Hampshire, Fergus Cullen, the former chairperson of the Republican party, found himself on the short end of the stick -- by winning. How embarrassing is that? And this whole red-faced situation was provoked by that God-awful federal program called Obamacare.

Here's the problem -- the former chair of the New Hampshire Republican Party will save $1,000 a month in premiums for his family's health care package after signing up for a new policy through the federal Obamacare exchange. This sounds good, but how's he going to explain the windfall to his fellow GOP'ers who staunchly oppose the Affordable Care Act because it's bad? If it's found out that it works, then how do the Republicans in the House explain 50+ votes to defund or abolish it?

Have no fear. He's a Republican so he's found a way to spin it -- he's taking the Rumpelstiltskin approach, only backwards. He's going to take gold and spin it into thread. From HUFFPO:

But Fergus Cullen said the savings aren't enough to turn him into a supporter of the new health care law. He said he anticipates higher out-of-pocket costs with his new Anthem-administered plan, and he's frustrated by what he sees as a lack of information about coverage options. His old plan, which was pricey but covered what he needed, was cancelled by his insurer because it didn't meet Obamacare regulations.

It costs less. Covers more. Guarantees he can't be dropped for pre-existing conditions. Can be carried over regardless of his employer. Yes, it sure does seem like Obamacare has it in for Cullen. Poor guy. He's stuck with savings.

He claims he's forced to carry coverage in the new policy that he probably won't be using. True. He favors the À la carte  method of insurance where you buy only what you need. I wonder if that comes with a crystal ball or tarot cards because how do you know what you'll need until that catastrophic and unexpected surprise comes a knockin' on your door?

Now he'll have all that extra money and as a Republican, he'll probably want to see his savings grow. Lucky for him he has the nearby Foxwoods Indian Gaming Casino. He can try his luck there with $1000/month house money. And if he becomes addicted to gambling, he can blame that on Obamacare. Luckily for him psychological and substance addictions are now covered with the Affordable Care Act.

Damn. Maybe they'll just have to change the expression now to "Obamacare-- you just can't lose for winning."

Could A Pro Pot, Lesbian, Women's Rights, Progressive Lead Maryland?

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

Maryland

Heather Mizeur is everything in the headline of this post. And she's currently running for Governor of Maryland, to replace a popular liberal Democrat, Governor Martin O'Malley who's retiring after two terms to seek a run at the President of the United States office.

Right now there are three Democrats in the Maryland Governor's race. Along with the 41-year old Mizeur is Attorney General, Doug Gansler, and so far, the Democratic party's anointed successor to the throne, Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown. There’s no question, though, that Mizeur is running on the most left-wing platform of the bunch.

Here's a taste of what Mizeur, a two-term member of the Maryland House of Delegates, is expounding, according to The Daily Beast:

...criminal justice reform, drug policy reform, tax cuts on poor and middle class, tax hikes on wealth, school construction policy, minimum wage increases, anti-fracking, campaign finance reform, health care, family planning, plugging corporate tax loopholes, universal pre-kindergarten, and marriage equality, to name a few.

Well, to win with those stances, you'd have to come from a state that thinks the same way as she does. And guess what, Maryland is just such a state:

...in recent legislative sessions, the Maryland General Assembly has passed and he has signed into law bills legalizing same-sex marriage, instituting a state-level “Dream Act” offering in-state tuition to certain undocumented immigrants, putting in place strong “common-sense gun safety measures,” and repealing the death penalty. Both the same-sex marriage and Dream Act measures were upheld by surprisingly strong margins in statewide referenda on the 2012 general election ballot.

I'm not saying that Heather Mizeur is going to win, place or show in the primaries. But she sure is a refreshing candidate and if progressives are going to make a move, she's the kind of candidate who might just make that happen. Let's keep an eye on her. Certainly she stands out. Hopefully she can get elected and run Maryland. That's a social experiment I'd love to see.

"The Jews Are The Problem, All The Problems Of The World"

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

Lt. Gen. Jerry-Boykin

Gotta hand it to Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin (retired), the executive vice president of the conservative Family Research Council. He doesn't mince his words, or even parse them with any sense of thinking. Or maybe he does -- and Anti-Semitism and subliminal messages from Obama to Al Qaeda are his actual beliefs.

Seems the good General had just finished speaking and didn't realize his mic was still live and everything he said was being recorded. Remind you of Romney and his 47% statements? Funny what people reveal about themselves when they don't realize they're being recorded.

The Raw Story carried this:

Boykin’s remarks were captured after an online broadcast of a panel at the National Security Action Summit. The SPLC reported that the event is held as a counter to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), and features speakers who, like Boykin, have not been allowed to participate there.

So the lowest of the low, or as they prefer, the most right-leaning of the rightwing zealots, host their own convention of hate and bigotry. In observing CPAC, it's hard to believe there is anyone more rightwing  conservative than they are but, I was wrong.

Before he got to his hatred of the Jews comment, the General and spokesman for the group found time to expound on his theory that President Barack Obama is using “subliminal messages” to signal support for al-Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood. How interesting. I just knew that Black Kenyan usurper to the throne was up to no good.

Rick Santorum Considers Himself The Missing Link And Who's To Argue?

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

Santorum

If you go to the Wikipedia definition of "missing link", you find this:

Missing link is a non-scientific term for any transitional fossil, especially one connected with human evolution;

I don't think Rick Santorum could have described himself much better. Non scientific. A fossil. Transitional. Connected with human evolution -- of course connected by his denial that evolution even exists.

Over the weekend, Santorum visited Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday where he talked about his future and the GOP party. Raw Story:

Former Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum on Sunday advised Republicans that it would be easier to oppose equal rights for LGBT people, roll back reproductive rights for women, and cut the social safety net if they adopted the rhetoric of Pope Francis.

Well, maybe Rick hasn't actually listened to the Pope. If he had, he wouldn't be so down on people and so ignorant of science. Pope Francis has spoken out about acceptance, not hatred,  of the LGBT community. He's compassionate for the poor. He's condemned income inequality. He's even washed the feet of the afflicted. Has Rick S done any of that?

So where's Rick come down sounding like Pope Francis? Beats me. Here he is answering that question on Fox:
