RNC Florida Hispanic Director is Now a Democrat

Aerial

This should be top story tomorrow, not all the kvetching about made up scandals. THIS is a true blue disintegration. How Rubio & Cruz justify their membership is beyond me. h/t Taegan.

It doesn’t take much to see the culture of intolerance surrounding the Republican Party today. I have wondered before about the seemingly harsh undertones about immigrants and others. Look no further; a well-known organization recently confirms the intolerance of that which seems different or strange to them.

(snip)

Although the organization distanced themselves from those assertions, other immigration-related research is still padded with the same racist and eugenics-based innuendo. Some Republican leaders have blandly (if at all) denied and distanced themselves from this but it doesn’t take away from the culture within the ranks of intolerance. The pseudo-apologies appear to be a quick fix to deep-rooted issues in the Republican Party in hopes that it will soon pass and be forgotten.

The complete disregard of those who are in disadvantage is also palpable. We are not looking at an isolated incident of rhetoric or research. Others subscribe to motivating people to action by stating, “In California, a majority of all Hispanic births are illegitimate. That’s a lot of Democratic voters coming.” The discourse that moves the Republican Party is filled with this anti-immigrant movement and overall radicalization that is far removed from reality. Another quick example beyond the immigration debate happened during CPAC this year when a supporter shouted ““For giving him shelter and food for all those years?” while a moderator explained how Frederick Douglass had written a letter to his slave master saying that he forgave him for “all the things you did to me.” I think you get the idea.

Co-author of racist “low Latino IQ” report resigns from the Heritage Foundation as Hispanic college enrollment tops white enrollment

damage control

This news alert just showed up in my inbox:

The Heritage Foundation announced the resignation Friday of senior policy analyst Jason Richwine, co-author of a controversial report critical of the Senate’s immigration reform bill. After Heritage issued the report this week, news articles pointed out that Richwine had argued in his Harvard dissertation that there was a long-standing difference between the IQ of white Americans and immigrants. Friday afternoon’s announcement was part of an urgent damage control effort by the giant conservative think tank, which has come under unaccustomed criticism for the immigration report.

Rachel Maddow:

This is where the white supremacist problem comes in.

So, yesterday, it was Dillon Matthews at “The Washington Post” who looked up the credentials of the people who wrote the anti-immigration reform study for Heritage and they found out that one of the co-authors for the big Heritage study on this issue, did his doctoral dissertation on American immigration policy and specifically on the question of how we should shape our immigration policy to account for the fact that Latinos are so dumb as a race. I`m only barely paraphrasing.

The dissertation describes Latino immigrants as generally having an IQ that is, quote, “substantially lower than that of the white native population.” Quote, “Immigrants living in the U.S. today do not have the same level of cognitive ability as natives.” Quote, “No one knows whether Hispanics will ever reach IQ parity with whites, but the prediction that new Hispanic immigrants will have low IQ children and grandchildren is difficult to argue against.”

So, not only are Latinos intellectually inferior to whites, but, of course, they breed. Echh. Disgusting, right?

After that was reported the Heritage Foundation, which is now run by former Republican Senator Republican Jim DeMint, the Heritage Foundation tried to distance themselves from this guy who they had write their immigration report.

They lamented that people were focusing on this guy`s dissertation instead of on this new study from him. They said that the dissertation was, quote, “not a work product of the Heritage Foundation. Its findings do not reflect the positions of the Heritage Foundation or the conclusions of our study.”

They further dismissed the guy who wrote the Latino’s equal dumb thing by saying, quote, “he did not shape the methodology or the policy recommendations in the Heritage policy paper, semicolon, he provided quantitative support for the lead author.” So, basically, “the guy was just a temp. He was good with a calculator. That`s all we hired him for.”

Think Progress demonstrates that not only is timing everything, but also, irony is not dead:

A Pew Research Center report released Thursday notes that Hispanic college enrollment reached a record high for the class of 2012, surpassing the rate of white enrollment for the first time. [...]

This should catch the attention of Heritage Foundation’s Jason Richwine, who coauthored a debunked immigration study that argues reform is too costly. Richwine argued in his dissertation that immigrants naturally possess a lower IQ, a pseudoscience point linked to anti-immigration groups actively working against reform.

A major advantage of having a Twitter pal like the wonderful Lalo Alcaraz (@LaloAlcaraz) is that he generously shares his work with us.

In his comic strip today, Lalo zeroed in on the all too prevalent Republican ignorance and Islamophobic tendencies.

How’s that reachy-outy, makeovery, reinventiony thing workin’ for ya, Louie?

Yes, to Gohmert, Hispanics are really Muslims in disguise, and burritos should be placed on terrorist watch lists.

Poll: Huge Majority Of Latinos Back Stricter Gun Laws

shoot foot

Keep it up R’s, the cliff is closer every day. Via.

Polls conducted in the months since the mass shooting in Newtown, Conn. have consistently found solid nationwide support for tougher gun laws, and a survey released Friday showed that Latino-Americans are no exception.

In fact, the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Telemundo poll indicates that Latinos are clamoring for stricter gun measures more than most groups in America. According to the poll, 70 percent of Latinos believe that “that the laws covering the sale of firearms should be made more strict,” while just five percent believe they should be made less strict and 22 percent believe they should be kept the same.

Those findings suggest that pro-gun Republicans may be jeopardizing the party’s standing with another group of voters it is desperate to attract. As TPM reported on Thursday, post-Newtown polls have shown far more support for gun control among women than men — perhaps a sign that the GOP’s opposition to new gun laws could undermine the party’s efforts to reach out to female voters.

gop outreach Latinos pick our food “… to help harvest our food.” How’s that reachy-outy thing workin’ for ya, GOP?

Rachel Maddow:

This [GOP problem with Latino voters] is the their absolute focus a as party. Today we also learned that one of the things we should expect from Republicans toward this aim is that they are working on new TV ads, new TV ads starring the chairman of the Republican Party that are aimed at rebranding the Republican Party for Latino voters.

The basic idea has to be what? “Sorry about that whole racial slur thing from Don Young”? “Never mind that. We love you. Bienvenido! Thank you for picking our food!”

“Thank you for picking our food”? What?

Yes. According to Media Matters reporting today, the Republican ad man who’s making the ad, at a a New York politics conference yesterday, said that the ad will feature RNC Chairman Reince Priebus “reaching out to those Latin Americans who have come to the United States to help us build our country, to help harvest our food.”

“Thanks for picking our food, Latinos. Love, the Republican Party.”

This is the thing the Republican Party is supposedly working on hardest. And this is how it is going so far.
