Mitt Romney's campaign is making terrible, horrible, no good, very bad deals

Please go read Steve M.'s post at Booman in which he cites WaPo. Here's a horrifying example of what Steve refers to as quid pro quos:

Among those being courted is Richard Land, a longtime leader of the Southern Baptist Convention....

Land said that after a private dinner with Romney last year at Acadiana, a Washington restaurant, Romney's advisers have been in regular touch. Land said he recently told them that Romney could win over recalcitrant conservatives by picking Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.) as his vice presidential running mate and previewing a few Cabinet selections: Santorum as attorney general, Gingrich as ambassador to the United Nations and John Bolton as secretary of state.

Steve ends with, "I think it's safe to say that he's going to promise to do what a lot of crazy people want if he becomes president."

Indeed, he'll be a real pleaser, because up until now, he's stuck so hard to his, you know, convictions. And by convictions, I mean:

2012 Watch: John Bolton considering a presidential run?

FacebookTwitterRedditDiggStumbleUponTumblrLinkedInPinterestEmailShare

Oh sweet jeebus, my life would be so good.

(CNN) – John Bolton, the controversial former United Nations Ambassador under President George W. Bush, is suggesting he may consider a run for the presidency in an effort to highlight national security issues.

In an interview with the conservative website The Daily Caller published Monday, Bolton – who himself has never sought federal office and is not considered to be among the long list of Republicans considering a 2012 bid – wouldn't explicitly rule out a presidential run.

"In the sense that I want to make sure that not only in the Republican Party, but in the body politic as a whole, people are aware of threats that remain to the United States," he said when asked if he would consider a run. "You know, as somebody who writes Op-Eds and appears on the television, I appreciate as well as anybody that… there is a limit to what that accomplishes. Whereas, some governor from some state in the middle of the country announces for president they get enormous coverage even if their views are utterly uninformed on major issues."

Currently a Fox News commentator and senior fellow at the conservative American Enterprise Institute, Bolton was appointed to U.N. Ambassador in August 2005 in a recess appointment. Bolton, who once quipped, "There are 38 floors to the UN building in New York - if you lost 10 of them, it wouldn't make a bit of difference," resigned in December of 2006 when it was clear the Senate - set to become Democratically-controlled in 2007 - was not going to confirm him.
