Dissent is the highest form of patriotism.
The idiots who scream "USA#1!" are unpatriotic. If this video offends you think about why. You can't fix problems by ignoring them.

The lyrics of this sone - from YouTube:

LYRICS:
How beautiful, for christian guys
With everything to gain
The white oppressed majorities
Still feel like they're in painnnn

America, America!
Our god is forced on theee
You're only good through christianhood
Our churches are tax freeeeee

O beautiful religious lies,
bronze age mythology,
Fuck women's rights, a bunch of guys,
don't get biology

America, America!
God made thine every flaw,
Refusing women birth-control,
Our views forced via law

America is number one... in teen pregnancy!
Our healthcare sucks, we give no fucks
but still think that we're free

America, America!
My guns will keep me safe
until that is, I shoot myself....

What's God got to do with it? In trust we trust.

Paddy posted a video of GOP Rep. Tom Price reminding everyone that the House passed the superfluous, time-wasting, redundant "In God We Trust" resolution to remind President Obama about the motto. Whew! We can all breathe a sigh of relief now, right?

Those clever Republicans, they sure are productive. I'm sure all those unemployed Americans feel much better about their predicament now.

Which brings me to an L.A. Times op-ed by Michael Shermer. He explains that God takes a back seat to trust when it comes to the prosperity, health and welfare of the nation. Here's a preview, but please read the whole thing.:

God has nothing to do with it. If you want freedom and security, you need the following:

The rule of law; property rights; a secure and trustworthy banking and monetary system; economic stability; a reliable infrastructure and the freedom to move about the country; freedom of the press; freedom of association; education for the masses; protection of civil liberties; a clean and safe environment; a robust military for protection of our liberties from attacks by other states; a potent police force for protection of our freedoms from attacks by people within the state; a viable legislative system for establishing fair and just laws; and an effective judicial system for the equitable enforcement of those fair and just laws.

With these in place the citizens of a nation feel free and secure. Why? The answer is in the final word of the motto: Trust.

It's about solutions, not religious faith.
