"Jeb Bush": If it weren't for Karl Rove, SCOTUS, we wouldn't have HAD a torturer-in-chief!

The other day I posted, "George W Bush ruined the family name." No worries, W, Jeb's up to the task, too. Now Garry Trudeau has jumped right in with a perfect coda. He skewered all three Bushes in last Sunday's comic strip. Trudeau managed to rip into George H.W., George W., and Jeb in one fell swoop. Plus he threw in the Supreme Court and Karl Rove without breaking a sweat. In this edition of Doonesbury, Jeb is being interviewed on a radio show.

Jeb claims to "understand Bush fatigue." If that were true, he would never even consider a run for president in real life. But in Doonesbury World, he believes he's the answer to all those pesky family problems that precede his future candidacy. Also in Doonesbury World, he freely acknowledges-- and goes so far as to list-- the many epic fails of his brother and father.

Take it away, Mr. Trudeau:

Doonesbury-- GW Bush: "I had 3 core principles-- Freedom, torture, and freedom!"

Garry Trudeau's depiction of the continuing physical deterioration of GW Bush's appearance, and character, was enough reason to fall in love with today's strip. Bush has always been nothing more than an empty hat, one that is as threadbare as his (pronounced lack of ) ethics, humility, and respect for the rule of law.

But Trudeau gave us so much more in today's strip. We get to point and laugh at the relationships between Daddy Bush, Jebby Bush, and W all in one snarkalicious effort. But he didn't stop there. He took jabs at Willard M. Romney, "self-deportation," W's obsession with his unhinged version of "freedom, " and of course, his sick devotion to torture.

And as always, in the last panel we were treated to the punch line. Gold.

Gulf War's General Norman Schwarzkopf dies in Florida

I have a relative who served with him, and he swears he was the best soldier he ever knew.

WASHINGTON >> A U.S. official says retired Gen. H. Norman Schwarzkopf, who commanded the U.S.-led international coalition that drove Saddam Hussein's forces out of Kuwait in 1991, has died. He was 78.

The official tells The Associated Press that Schwarzkopf died today in Tampa, Fla. The official wasn't authorized to release the information publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity.

A much-decorated combat soldier in Vietnam, Schwarzkopf was known popularly as "Stormin' Norman" for a notoriously explosive temper.

He lived in retirement in Tampa, where he had served in his last military assignment as commander-in-chief of U.S. Central Command. That is the headquarters responsible for U.S. military and security concerns in nearly 20 countries from the eastern Mediterranean and Africa to Pakistan.
