How's that reachy-outy, makeovery, reinventiony thing workin' for ya, GOP?

outreach my ass reach out inclusive

Oklahoma state Rep. James Lockhart (D) emailed a colleague for help, so Rep. Mike Reynolds (R) gave him some... some... well, gave him something, but it sure wasn't help.

Lockhart's email, in part, via the Oklahoma Democrats site. Bolding is mine:

Basically we are doing a poor job of improving the lives of the people we represent... [M]ost people think we either don’t care about them or are unable to do something about improving their standard of living.

I am here to try to improve the quality of life of the average person in however small a way possible.

I would suggest you do the same.

Of course, anyone with a modicum of compassion would go out of their way to show how much they truly care about their constituents. A little grace and empathy goes a long way to inspire mutual respect among all citizens. After all, if they thrive, then everybody benefits: families, the state, even the public officials who represent them! There's nothing like generosity, comfort, and good will to help those who depend on you, who trust you, to succeed and build a little self worth.

Right Rep. Reynolds?

It is not our job to see that anyone gets an education. It is not the responsibility of me, you, or any constituent in my district to pay for his or any other persons education... Their potential to benefit society is irrelevant.

Compassionate conservatism at its best. Way to go Mike!

By the way, "person's" should have an apostrophe, Mr. Not Our Job To See That Anyone Gets An Education. Clearly Reynolds never had one.

FYI: The title of the OK Dem's post was "REPUBLICAN REPRESENTATIVE MIKE REYNOLDS CALLS STUDENT’S POTENTIAL IRRELEVANT."

How's that reachy-outy, makeovery, reinventiony thing workin' for ya, GOP?

Comedy headline o' the day: Ryan vouches for Romney's character in speech to conservatives

Share

So did you hear the joke about vouching for Willard Romney's character? By a guy with no character? It's hilarious. A real knee-slapper. Stop me if you've heard this one before:

Washington (CNN) – Beneath his stiff and sometimes impersonable exterior, Mitt Romney has a heart of gold. [...]

"I'm not the only one who has told Mitt that maybe he needs to talk more about himself and his life," Ryan said, acknowledging a recurring complaint among Republicans that Romney does a poor job of highlighting his personal side. "It wouldn't hurt if voters knew more of those little things that reveal a man's heart and his character.... He's a modest man with a charitable heart, a doer and a promise-keeper."

Oh man, I'm doubled over... whew! Let me stop to catch my breath. Wow.

Hey Mr. Stand-up Comedian, did your running mate have a heart of gold when he:

  • failed to empathize with the poor, the elderly and the disabled who can’t afford proper medical care, a home of their own, or a quality education?
  • failed to empathize with ailing dogs stuck in cages tied to the roof of his car?
  • failed to empathize with women who have been raped, “legitimately” or otherwise, and choose not to have their rapist’s baby? Or does his heart of gold empathize more with Todd Akin and your comedian self?
  • failed to empathize with women who are forced to have vaginal probes inserted inside of them because your fellow Republicans insist that their government knows more about their bodies and choices than the women and their own doctors do?

As for being a "promise-keeper", that's the biggest joke of all. The only promise Romney has kept is this:

VIDEO- Ann Romney: We empathize, "we know what it is like to struggle." Really? Then here are a few questions for you...

Way to snuggle with the Romneys, David Gregory.

Mrs. Willard:

"Mitt and I do recognize that we have not had a financial struggles... but we know what it is like to struggle."

"It's ridiculous to think you can't have empathy for someone who is struggling."

"Mitt has been demonized in many ways for being heartless... Mitt was there for her."

"Mitt has been demonized in many ways for being heartless..." Gee, why do you think that is, Ann?

Here's the thing. You can insist that you and your husband empathize, and maybe you do, maybe you are "there for" people on a one-to-one occasionally. We all do that, but that doesn't qualify us to hold the highest office in America, nor does it typify how you behave overall, and to entire groups of people.

So here are a few questions for you:

  • Does your husband empathize with same-sex couples who want to commit to a permanent, loving, stable relationship by getting married?
  • Does your husband empathize with the poor, the elderly and the disabled who can't afford proper medical care, a home of their own, or a quality education?
  • Does your husband empathize with ailing dogs stuck in cages tied to the roof of his car?
  • Does your husband empathize with women who have been raped, "legitimately" or otherwise, and choose not to have their rapist's baby? Or does he empathize more with Todd Akin and Paul Ryan?
  • Does your husband empathize with women who are forced to have vaginal probes inserted inside of them because your fellow Republicans insist that their government knows more about their bodies and choices than the women and their own doctors do?
