Head of gun organization, former NRA lobbyist: “The next election is the time to hunt Democrats.”

obsessed obsolete

Remember that graphic, Sarah Palin’s “hit list” from 2010, back when she was targeting House Democrats and used gun sight icons to make the point? That was pretty appalling and she got a lot of blowback for it. You might even say she was caught in the cross hairs:

palin hit list

So should former NRA lobbyist and founder of Rocky Mountain Gun Owners Dudley Brown be for his remarks. Think Progress is reporting on his interview with NPR, during which he said this:

Brown complains universal background checks are just a step towards identifying gun owners so the government can seize their weapons, and he calls the 15-bullet limit on ammunition clips arbitrary. He’s promising political payback in next year’s election that could cost Colorado Democrats their majorities.

“I liken it to the proverbial hunting season,” Brown says. “We tell gun owners, there’s a time to hunt deer. And the next election is the time to hunt Democrats.”

Not the best time to put that out there, Dudley, considering Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) was threatened after introducing gun legislation: “They said they were going to kill me.”

Between the continuing Republican references to “hunting Democrats” and their bizarre obsession with “illegitimate and legitimate” rape– a crime of violence– one might conclude that many of those on the right are becoming even more unhinged.

And just as they’re making all that noise about their “new and improved” party image.

extreme makeover my ass

Timing is everything.

Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) threatened after introducing gun legislation: “They said they were going to kill me.”

gun nut inside

This is what happens if you dare, DARE, to introduce legislation that would require gun owners to have liability insurance.

The Hill:

Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) says she received death threats about gun legislation introduced last week.

”They said they were going to kill me,” Maloney said, according to the New York Daily News.

She is still moving forward with the bill.

So the “good guys with guns” are defending their oh-so-important Second Amendment rights by threatening the life of a lawmaker who thinks insuring gun owners would be a good idea. And they think she’s the one intruding on their rights? What about her right to live, to feel secure, to not have to look over her shoulder every time she sets foot outside?

[S]he skipped a dinner event that night.

“I couldn’t go,” Maloney said. “Who knows what could happen?”

Wow, she sounds really scary. The obvious solution is to kill her. Check.

But calling these loons “gun nuts” offends them. Seriously?

Two fifth-graders conspired to murder a “really annoying” girl; a knife, semiautomatic gun found in backpack

what is happening

Honestly, it’s getting harder and harder to know if these horrifying stories are new or updates of recent ones. There are so many, it’s as if a mushroom cloud-sized explosion of gun scares and/or massacres has occurred, or maybe we’re just seeing more reported. Either way, it’s scary as hell, and insanely unhealthy both mentally and of course, physically.

My jaw is dislocated from all the dropping. I’m in tears. I’m enraged. I’m appalled. I feel helpless. I’m confused. I’m determined. I’m re-energized. Why do gun zealots not see what most of America sees? Why is common sense gun safety legislation such a threat? (rhetorical)

A slippery slope, the gun huggers call it, because next thing you know, Big Guvmint will take ALL their guns! What about the slippery slope we are now experiencing, right now, right this minute? The one that leads to more mass murders, more senseless deaths, more children dying. What about that slippery slope?

The latest incident occurred in the state of Washington where two fifth graders may face charges after school authorities found a knife and a gun in a student’s backpack.

The student who owned the backpack is ten years old.

Ten years old.

L.A. Times:

School authorities said two fifth-grade boys planned to use the weapons to lure another student outside the school and kill her “because she was really annoying.”

That’s right, two boys (the other was eleven years old) wanted to murder a classmate because she was, in their opinion, annoying. They also targeted six others.

And to make matters even worse, they promised to pay $80 to a student if he promised not to tell anyone about their plot.

Had a fourth-grader not told a teacher he had seen the 11-year-old with a knife, who knows what might have happened?

Here’s what was found in the backpack: The knife, which had a 3¼-inch blade, a .45-caliber Remington 1911 semiautomatic handgun, and an ammunition clip.

A semiautomatic handgun.

Here’s what the 11-year-old had to say:

“I was going to kill her with the knife and [the other boy] was supposed to use the gun to keep anyone from trying to stop me or mess up our plan.”

What were their parents teaching these kids? Why were weapons like these even accessible to them? Why did they think murdering someone was the answer? Why weren’t they taught that words should be used to solve personal problems, not violence?

The older boy said he had been friends with the girl for several months “but that he hated her now.” He said the girl “had recently become rude and would pick on him.”

The obvious solution: End her young life.

Thankfully, the school had been promoting a program that encouraged students to report anything suspicious, which is exactly what happened. Thankfully, a child made the decision to step forward and report the suspicious thing.

And thankfully, School Supt. Mike Cashion said this when asked about arming teachers:

I told them [the legislature] I can’t imagine a teacher taking a gun out, leveling it at a fifth-grader and killing them,” he said. “It’s the antithesis of what we are.

If only murder and gun adoration were the antithesis of what way too many of us are.

Man building homemade bombs arrested in alleged plot to kill CA Dem. lawmaker who pushed anti-assault weapon laws

gun nut inside

So there’s a guy who makes bombs who allegedly wanted to kill a San Francisco Democratic senator (Leland Yee) who doesn’t like military-style weapons falling into the hands of guys who make bombs. Yes, here we go again, this time involving some Bay Area loon who was threatening to kill Yee if he kept pushing legislation to restrict assault weapons.

And firearms “enthusiasts” still insist on giving three patriotic cheers for these homicidal gun nuts’ rights?

Via the L.A. Times:

A Bay Area man who authorities say was building homemade bombs has been arrested on suspicion of threatening to kill a state lawmaker.

Everett Basham, 45, was booked Tuesday on multiple charges, including possession of a manufactured explosive and illegal possession of chemicals used to make explosives.

A loaded handgun was found in the suspect’s car, per a CHP spokesman. When they went to his house, they discovered “precursors to homemade explosives.”

So remember, kiddies, if you don’t like laws that prevent you doing things your own way, or that stop you from having the weapons you want, shoot the person who makes the laws.

Of course, you first need to make sure that person you want to murder doesn’t pack heat or drive a tank or control a drone himself, because the Dorner case dispels the “nutty notion that a citizen can be heavily enough armed to fight off the government”

In Florida, apparently an email is more threatening than a loaded pistol

In Florida (where else?), temporarily-gone-Police Chief Bill Lee got a threatening email. He’s the same police chief who was overseeing the Trayvon Martin investigation, but botched it so badly that he’s been replaced.

But back to the story. A man named John Carnduff Stewart, who lives about 70 miles from Sanford, sent Lee an email saying that the ex-chief and his family should be killed.

The sender has a history of sending threatening emails.

Hmm, what does this remind us of? Oh! I know! George Zimmerman, Trayvon’s killer, who also had a checkered past, but instead of threats, he actually, you know, pulled the trigger.

He hasn’t been arrested yet. But you know what?

Stewart was placed on electronic monitoring as a condition of his $10,000 bond.

But George Zimmerman still carries a gun and is free to come and go as he pleases.

Probably because Zimmerman wasn’t wearing a hoodie. Yeah, that has to be it.

TPC commenter: “You liberal fools are DISGUSTING! The only good abortionist is a DEAD one!”

Back in December of 2010, I wrote a post titled, Self-sufficient Sarah Palin’s” hunting trip cost $42,000 in which I said:

On her reality show, she claimed that hunting puts “food on the table and in the freezer for a lot of Alaskans.” Apparently, she spent a good amount of time hunting, alright… for airplanes, airplanes that use up a lot of fuel taking her to places where the “got to get out and hunt” “pro-lifer” could kill living things.

This morning I woke up to an email notification of this comment under that post:

Jim Britt:

So killing an animal is worse the Planned Parenthood “doctors” MURDERING millions of HUMAN babies.  You liberal fools are DISGUSTING!  the only good abortionist is a DEAD one!

Maybe this nut case should read up about Planned Parenthood and it’s “doctors” or listen to Lizz Winstead for five minutes.

Or watch this:

Apparently, it took Jim Britt five-plus months to find another outlet to wish his fellow humans (and by calling him human I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt) dead.

And there you have it. Another “pro-lifer” struts his sick stuff for the world to see.

UPDATE,  here are his public Google and Disqus profiles:

Tweet: “Hang Obama’s body from Lady Liberty? Ground Zero?”

My Twitter buddy P0TUS brought this piece of excrement to my attention. I write about these disgusting posts to expose those who threaten our president, and usually get decent results, usually from the Secret Service.

GregWHoward, who is apparently one sick, angry guy, tweeted the following:

This kind of vile attempt to provoke, bait, and attract the wrong kind of attention is all too commonplace. Let’s hope we have the same success at suspending the account of this nutcase as we have with others.

By the way, he lamely tries to excuse this with the “oops, wrong spelling” rationalization:

“Libtards.” Nice touch, a word that I’m sure even Sarah Palin (a fellow Obama detractor he’d surely want to pal around with) would not find amusing.

Sorry, Greg, I am not convinced that was a mere typo (Added: At best, an “accidentally on purpose” one). Misspeaking is one thing, as so many have done, and most catch themselves and admit their embarrassment. If you look at his Twitter stream, you’ll see this kind of open hostility is, sadly, the “norm” for him.

By the way, as @Taunia_Adams asks, will tea partyers condemn this kind of spew? We better not hold our breath.
