Doonesbury– Fox: Obama is “the laziest president in U.S. history!” Except for George W. Bush.

doonesbury lazy obama

Garry Trudeau manages to plow through all of those most-absent/vacationy-president-ever, Blame Obama, and produce-a-birth-certificate memes, all while sliding in a shot at the Fox vacation police and George W. Bush’s endless brush-clearing jaunts.

Compact, efficient, clever, informative, and snarky.

My hero.

Via Wiki Answers:

During 2 terms as President, Bush took spent all of part of 477 days at Camp David, on retreats and made 77 trips to his Crawford Ranch, in Texas, where he spent all or part of 490 days, on his Ranch.

The total number of days of vacation or retreat President Bush took, while in office over a period of 8 years was 967 days, or 32% of his total time in office, was spent on vacations or retreats.

Lazy, good-for-nothing, evil gay French Kenyan Texan!

VIDEO: The “mainstream media” finally calls out Mitt Romney for the liar he is

Hypocridiot Willard Romney, whose lies have finally been called out, has two Solyndras of his very own. How nice that the so-called “news” media have finally noticed that he’s full of it.

Mitt Romney’s other Solyndra. Yes, he has at least two.

Why, what a coincidence! Just the other day I posted about what a liar Willard Romney is, and pointed straight to his blatant hypocrisy regarding his efforts to perpetuate the fake Solyndra not-scandal.

Not to pile on (okay, yes, to pile on), but Think Progress is reporting about a second Romney-backed solar company that filed for bankruptcy.

This makes me wonder two things: Why is Willard willing to subject himself to such easy debunking, and why are solar companies going under when they’re such a big part of such an effective solution to our energy problems? Especially when, per TP, the solar industry has “created 64,000 jobs across the energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors.”

Konarka is the second Massachusetts solar company, along with Evergreen Solar and Beacon Power, to receive taxpayer dollars under Romney’s tenure and subsequently declare bankruptcy.

Let’s remedy both of these problems by 1) re-electing President Obama, and 2) supporting green energy.

The GOP, and now Willard Romney specifically, has been trying everything they can to create a scandal where there is none regarding the collapse of American solar-power company Solyndra.

But, oops! The fake Solyndra scandal has backfired, as you can see in the clip above, especially because Romney lied outright. Doubly especially because Mitt is a major hypocrite.

Here is the entire segment in which Rachel calls out even more Romney lies:

Not enough “monitoring & oversight of [Solyndra] loan guarantees”. But… but.. GOP thinks “oversight” is a dirty word!

What was that about this country needing less “big government” oversight and regulation again, Republicans? Here’s some new information about that Solyndra fake scandalvia the L.A. Times:

An independent audit of the federal loan guarantee initiatives that backed the troubled solar technology company Solyndra failed to turn up the waste and broad incompetence that critics assert riddled the programs.

But the audit showed the laws passed from 2005 to 2009 that established the programs in question at the Energy Department had few provisions for thorough monitoring and oversight of the loan guarantees once they were approved. One program created in 2007 did not “provide any requirements regarding governance and monitoring of loans after closing.”

Neither the statutes nor the regulations governing the Programs specify internal or external oversight or reporting requirements,”  the report concluded.

Here’s the punch line: The loan guarantee application was submitted under the Bush administration.

GOP: Regulation and oversight are evil… unless they can be used against Democrats.

A $600 million search for Arctic oil came up dry, but Darrell Issa obsesses over Solyndra

Remember the Big Solyndra not-Scandal that Darrell Issa has obsessed over for months now?

Why isn’t he as concerned about Big Oil’s investments in wells that produce, you know, nothing? Why doesn’t the loss of kajillions of dollars doing just that faze him in the least?

As an acquaintance of mine points out, “most venture capital firms will make ten investments in the hope one will be a big success.  Progressives should not be defensive about investments in new technology, in general, or Solyndra, in particular.” He makes a great point, especially in light of this, via Time:

[T]he British wildcatter Cairn Energy [launched] an expensive effort to drill exploratory wells with the hope of bringing billions of barrels of oil. That’s not how it’s worked out, though. (MORE: An Oil Spill Grows in the North Sea.) After spending $600 million in a drilling campaign over the past two years, Cairn announced this week that it has come up with virtually nothing. [...]

Cairn’s Greenland programme has been an unmitigated disaster from day one and as the Bureau of Minerals and Petroleum begins negotiations with oil companies interested in drilling off the Northeast coast of Greenland, Cairn’s travails should send a clear warning that the incredible technical, economic and environmental risks of operating in the Arctic simply aren’t worth it.

But since the priority is making President Obama look as bad as possible in order to make him a one term president, Solyndra is a target and Big Oil is French kissed. There’s your tax dollars at work, GOP style.

White House rejects Solyndra subpoena

TPM Livewire is reporting that the White House is calling the subpoena of its records on its dealings with Solyndra a “fishing expedition” and is rejecting it.
