Bradley Manning

They're covering it right now on MSNBC. He is eligible for parole, good conduct & time served. He was knocked down a rank (why would this matter?), dishonorably discharged and loses all military pay, pension etc.

Pfc. Bradley Manning, the soldier who leaked hundreds of thousands of secret government documents, was sentenced by a military judge Wednesday to 35 years in prison.

The sentence was imposed by Army Col. Denise Lind. Manning will be eligible for parole.

Manning, 25, has said he was disillusioned by an American foreign policy bent on “killing and capturing people” when he released the documents, including battlefield reports and diplomatic cables, to the anti-secrecy site WikiLeaks in 2010.

God Bless this man. We let one influential think tank and a few individuals create the policy of pre-emptive war that has been carried out in the last decade with impunity. We have lost blood and treasure and our "nation building" has been a joke and killed/displaced millions of those from the Middle East. My question to Obama is this: Can we get back to your 2007 platform of "dumb wars" and bring the troops home (not tomorrow, not a week from now...but yesterday as was promised)? Do drone strikes really solve the problem? I would not want to have to make these decisions as the President and I understand the delicate nature of his predicament, but I hope and pray he will see the light and end the madness. Terrorism has been delivered to us as the next Villain of an invisible cold war. it is mostly hyped up propaganda.
