Theater of the Absurd - The House of Representatives

Waiting for Godot

I'm calling John Boehner ignorant. Let's start with what the term means in simple layman's terms. Here's how Merriam-Webster defines the word, ignorant:

Definition of ignorant:

1
a : destitute of knowledge or education <an ignorant society>; also : lacking knowledge or comprehension of the thing specified <parents ignorant of modern mathematics>

b : resulting from or showing lack of knowledge or intelligence<ignorant errors>
2
: unaware, uninformed

Just before Congress went of their five week August break, they voted for a 13th time (not to be confused with the 40th time they voted to repeal Obamacare) to defund ACORN, or the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

Thirteen times. They must really want to kill this bill badly. I think WE get it. The GOP hates ACORN.

But don't THEY get it? It's already dead. It was disbanded in the spring 2010 - over three years ago. What kind of communications do they used on the hill? Even pony express should have gotten the message to them by now.

Oh, and Speaker Boehner was there when it happened. So wasn't he listening, did he forget his vote or is he just plain ignorant?

"Word is the majority will also prohibit foreign aid to the Ottoman Empire this year," a Democratic congressional aide snarked to HuffPost. (Like ACORN, the Ottoman Empire does not exist.)

"Thirteen votes to defund a program that no longer exists. Forty votes to repeal a health care law that is transforming millions of lives," said Drew Hammill, a spokesman for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), comparing the anti-ACORN legislation to the House GOP's routine votes to repeal Obamacare. "If their agenda is to do nothing on a timeline of never, they're setting record pace."

This is truly like Theater of the Absurd. Beckett's WAITING FOR GODOT. The GOP seem to be waiting for something that is never going to happen. That's because it already did happen. The GOP leadership is simply wasting our money and time that they could be putting into real legislating on our behalf, not in repealing a phantom bill.  Now if ignorant doesn't fit the definition perfectly than tell me what other word does?

You give them too much credit. DG

Reading has never been a strong suit of the GOP. Perhaps in a storybook form they may get it.
