Via Yahoo's @maxzimbert: Marines provided umbrellas during a rainy press conference.
As you can see, earlier today President Obama and Prime Minister Erdogan held a joint press conference. And as you can see from the video, the president is standing by his Attorney General.
But there was a lot in that presser we didn't get to see, because this happened:
MSNBC often cut away, too, as did CNBC, per the tweets I received. Here are a few of them, plus a couple responding directly to Media Matter's Eric Boehlert's tweet. I'll start with my own:
Dear MSNBC, CNN: So Turkish prime minister's words don't count? Now the presser is over, all we got was commentary from talking heads.
Here are the tweets I managed to copy and paste as they whizzed by:
...Disrespect to other countries
Do they think we care nothing about anyone not from US? They are wrong.
Because, you know, Turkey is SO unimportant on the world stage right now..bordering on Syria and such..*mutter*
This is making me angry.
Wouldn't it be nice if there were a 24 hour News network that had the capability of covering these long Press--oh, wait.
MSNBC & Andrea Mitchell doing same. It's rude and she should be called on it.
Does she not understand Turkey's interest in Assad stepping down?
What does it matter what he has to say? He's only one of the key players in solving the Syrian quagmire.
And then, the pièce de résistance. Andrea Mitchell turned to David Gregory (of all people) for commentary, leading off with this question (slightly paraphrased, she added one other adjective that I can't remember):
"Is the president too passive and ____, as he's been criticized for?"
How objective. How fair and balanced.
