Reps. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Tom Cole (deputy whip, Rational-OK) were on CNN's "State of the Union" discussing-- what else?-- the Fiscal Whatever, that trap that the GOP, in all their foresighty wisdom, set for themselves.
Here's what Cole said (I'm ignoring Blackburn for obvious reasons, as in: Republicans "are the party of big ideas"):
“Yeah, honestly I think if it got to the floor, it would carry.”
“I think it would. Look, that’s my judgment, but I spend a lot of time counting votes and looking around. But this doesn’t say we’re going to raise taxes on anybody, it says, okay this group for sure, your taxes aren’t going up. Get that done with, get it over with...”
Republicans know what's going to happen, they just won't admit it on the Tee Vee Machine. Besides, who cares about the poor, the middle class, the ill, and senior citizens when you have a bunch of Richie Riches to protect?
