VIDEO: My brilliant 17-year-old pal, Nikhil Goyal, questions Mitt Romney at Education Nation summit

My new best friend Nikhil Goyal (@nikhilgoya_l) wrote a book, One Size Does Not Fit All: A Student’s Assessment of School on a subject near and dear to my heart, because I taught at public schools for years and feel as passionately as he does.

Did I mention he’s only seventeen?

When we spoke on the phone at length about what’s right and what’s wrong with the American school system, among other things, my takeaway was this: Watch for Nikhil, he’s an up-and-comer who is bound to make a difference.

And it didn’t take long for him to prove me right. He’s already landed a guest spot on the Melissa Harris Perry Show, and has just questioned one Willard M. Romney at the Education Nation summit. Watch:

Seemed to me that Nikhil’s laugh demonstrated his amusement at how the candidate exposed himself as utterly ignorant on the topic of high stakes tests.

So you got that from a few seconds during which he posed a question, and then he laughed at a joke that the entire audience laughed at.

He’s 17. And Nikhil, not Nikhal, was not “subservient” nor was he “creepy.” Respectful, yes, but after having watched this video a few times now, I fail to see where you got that impression, sorry.

Nikhal Goyal seems too subservient to Romney; it was creepy – ugh!!!
