Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll: President Obama leads Mitt Romney nationally among likely voters, 50% to 45%.

This is his best approval rating since March. I’ve read elsewhere that the president’s convention bounce is about gone, but now that I’m seeing this poll, I have to wonder.

Meghan McCain was just on the MSNBC Rev. Al Sharpton show “Politics Nation,” and when she was told about this poll, she literally dismissed it with a sneer and a “Oh, pfft! it’s an NBC poll, for Pete’s sake” type of comment. As opposed to those reliable Fox and Rasmussen polls, right Meghan?

And yes, she was on an NBC station as an MSNBC paid contributor discrediting an NBC poll. There goes the raise.

Addendum, via Taegan:

“Running for president in the YouTube era, you realize you have to be very judicious in what you say. You have to be careful with your humor. You have to recognize that anytime you’re running for the presidency of the United States, you’re on.”

— Mitt Romney, quoted by the New York Times, in June 16, 2007.

Ahem, Willard, “you’re on!” GOP strategists alarmed, others distance themselves over Romney’s 47% comments: “He’s pushing independent voters out the door.”

I saw Meghan McCain’s interview and she wasn’t dismissive of polls that she said showed Romney in the lead, but as soon as the NBC poll was brought up, suddenly polls weren’t so important.

Why she is on MSNBC to begin with is beyond me.

Raise? Seems like Meghan’s only on air often enough to clear her bar tab.
