Anti-marriage equality Prop. 8 campaign committee faces $49,000 in fines

A hyperventilating "You're destroying our straight divorces marriages with your icky gayness and desire to have permanent relationships!" group supporting Prop 8 (banning marriage equality) out here in California could be fined $49,000 because, oops, they didn't "properly report and handle political contributions it received."

If they're too irresponsible to handle political donations, how can they handle the responsibility of marriage? After all, many a union between a man and a woman has fallen apart over irreconcilable differences over finances.

Via the L.A. Times:

The fines are proposed by the enforcement staff of the state Fair Political Practices Commission against the campaign committee ProtectMarriage.com—Yes on 8. The staff found that the group had failed to properly file public reports disclosing late contributions and contributions of more than $5,000, as well as for not properly disclosing an anonymous $10,000 contribution.

They're up against 18 counts of breaking state political laws.
