VIDEO: “I don’t think [Mitt Romney] has any way to even remotely relate to the everyday citizen, let alone African-American citizens.”

Earlier today Paddy posted Willard Romney’s cringe worthy appearance at the NAACP.

What little I saw of his speech this morning made me want to point and laugh, cry, hide under the covers, scream “WTF?!” call Paddy, scratch my head, and finally, take a deep breath and ask, “We expected something different?”

The reactions from NAACP members were what you’d expect and more. Via Think Progress:

The NAACP has released the following statement: “This morning Governor Romney laid out his policy agenda for this nation. Unfortunately, much of his agenda is at odds with what the NAACP stands for – whether the issue is equal access to affordable health care, reforming our education system or the path forward on marriage equality. We appreciate that he was courageous and took the opportunity to speak with us directly.”

Courageous indeed.

Al Sharpton showed some video of the crowd as romney was speaking.  Judging from the comments they were making, I don’t think they were buying what romney was selling.

I thought his speech was dripping with cynicism and disdain for the audience -  so much so that I can’t even give him points for showing up

Courage and bravery aren’t interchangeable.  Bravery is knowing the dangers and moving forward regardless, understanding that the end result is more important.
Courage, on the other hand, has a lot to do with misunderstanding the circumstances and plowing ahead unknowingly, hoping for the best.

I believe that the NAACP’s statement was pointed to that effect.  Slightly veiled, but to the point nonetheless.
