Spade huh? It took me a few minutes to believe this was real, but apparently that's a verified account. Wow, they really don't give a shit what they say anymore.

And secondly, can you find it within yourself to present an argument without cussing? It just shows lack of ground for the argument itself. Any debater knows that attacking his opponent instead of his argument shows the weakness of the argument to begin with. So clean it up, and get over the racism hangup that you have created. There is no racist comment anywhere in the tweet -- at least there wasn't until you made it into one.

    you're sad.

Suzette, you sound awfully defensive. But that's understandable, considering how often the GOP uses dog whistle phrases to get attention or rile up their base.

First of all, yes, "spade" might be a term used for offensive purposes in unprofessional circles. However, reading into the phrase to interpret it as a racial slur is definitely taking it out of context. Looks like the first ones to speak out against the tweet are the first ones who even noticed the "offensive phrase." Are these terms constantly on the forefront of your mind? Or are you just trying to put words in someone's mouth that were never there? If I'm gardening and ask someone to "hand me a spade," am I going to be labled racist because I put the word "spade" in my sentence? Because apparently you're just sitting around waiting for people to make comments that can be twisted into something they're not. Please grow up and do something better with your life. Racism is such an old card to play, and you do it just because you don't have any better argument, and you know it. It's an ad hominem; you have been caught using it, so please stop.

AHAHAAHAHAA!!! It's a dog whistle. It's the 21st century now, and the word has "evolved". Next.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!  The only ones seeing a racial component are the enlightened LEFTISTS.  You're a trip.  The phrase come from the 1500s (whereas the insult dates from the late 1920s).

The phrase was introduced to English in 1542 in Nicolas Udall's translation of Erasmus, Apophthegmes, that is to saie, prompte saiynges. First gathered by Erasmus:Philippus aunswered, that the Macedonians wer feloes of no fyne witte in their termes but altogether grosse, clubbyshe, and rusticall, as they whiche had not the witte to calle a spade by any other name then a spade.

Lots of people do, Jimmie. Cantor knew exactly what he was saying, and that's the point. He chose that word when he could have put it any number of ways.

    It's called a dog whistle.

Better yet, how many people who have a brain in their heads will know that the saying "call a spade a spade" predates the use of "spade" as a racial slur by about 5 centuries, give or take...

I wonder how many readers here will "get" the racial slur.  One more reason Cantor has to go
