My rep, Joe Donnelly actually voted for contempt, and then when I called his local office and his D.C. office neither of the nerds on the telephones had ANY defense of his actions, could not have cared less. Even when I asked if there was any explanation they could give me for a normally blue doggy moderate democrat to absolutely crater to the most crazed fringes of gundom, I got puzzled silence. Now, I get part of it, everyone’s afraid of the NRA, but Indiana really isn’t one of the hard core hunting or gun owners (Indiana’s 27th out of the 50) and Joe looks strong against Mourdock, at least for now. Feh, blue dog wuss. Video via TPM.

BTW, any suggestion that “Obama will pay for his decision to involve himself” is silly.  Anyone using this as their reasoning for not casting a vote for Obama wasn’t going to vote for Obama in the first damn place.  The NRA owns Congress, but only until the next billionaire decides he needs use of them.
Squawking about this or the Affordable Care Act instead of the economy won’t make Barack Obama the least bit uncomfortable this fall.
       Squawk away…

Patrick, you really need to get informed. Here you go, the facts, not the fiction:

So we have the NRA pressuring the House to issue a criminal contempt citation against an Attorney General because he didn’t make quite enough gun-running arrests to suit them?

         Irony much?

         It’s like bizarro world lately…

Democratic politicians running for the exits, and others hanging around because they don’t want the wrath of the National Rifle Association coming down on their heads in November.

Repubs screaming White House obstructionism!  Worse than Watergate!  The audacity of Obama to hide behind the same Executive Privelege George W. Bush regularly employed to cover the activities of his administration!

And on top of it all,  the President voted against the confirmation of the one conservative Justice who gave him the greatest victory of his first term.

Think this will get muddy between now and November?

Congressional democrats stating that these people were swayed by the NRA is admitting that their party is more swayed by politics than what is just and right. Walking out on the vote just exhibits more of the childish obstructionist behavior they are known for. Holder deserved the contempt vote for all his stonewalling and Obama will pay for his decision to involve himself in this mess.
