Trayvon Martin Watch: Sanford Police Chief Bill Lee to officially resign

Police Chief Bill Lee in the Trayvon Martin case stepped aside “temporarily” back in March.

Via CBS News, Lee will officially resign today, effective midnight tonight:

Lee had temporarily left the department last month in the wake of criticism over handling of the investigation in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

Sanford Mayor Jeff Triplett has called a special meeting with city commissioners at 4 p.m., where they will vote on resignation of Chief Lee.

Per MSNBC, he was a deputy for twenty years. Meantime, George Zimmerman was released on bond, and was wearing a bulletproof vest because of death threats he's received.

Another shoe has dropped.
