WI GOP senator writes bill claiming single parenthood "a contributing factor to child abuse and neglect.”

Remember Wisconsin Senator Glenn Grothman? This is the same Grothman who angered one of our readers here, and will anger you here at TPC as you continue to read:

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Now this piece of excrement has written a controversial bill aimed at single parents. He thinks that kids who are raised by "a" mom or dad will most likely be auto-abused.

RH Reality Check, specifically Michael Hayne, nails it:

Indiana Senator Glenn Grothman (R-West Bend), a Republican in Wisconsin’s state senate, thinks that children from single parents are probably victims of child abuse. In his world, a deadbeat dad (Joe Walsh, anyone?) is an American hero whereas the single mom is a disordered, unstable Harlot and should probably be raped by a state doctor. [...]

A portion of the bill reads as follows:

“In promoting those campaigns and materials, the [Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board] shall emphasize nonmarital parenthood as a contributing factor to child abuse and neglectHe thinks that kids who are raised by "a" mom or dad will most likely be auto-abused..”

Where to start? First, does GrossGrothman realize how many single parents there are in Wisconsin? Hayne's post reveals that it's a whopping  32 percent

What if one parent dies, Glenny? Does that automatically turn the survivor into a child abuser?

And exactly how do single parents make the sudden conversion to neglectful sloths who stop caring and start endangering their kids?

Forget it. The white hot stupid is not worth any more of my time.

I actually read this bill as a slam to gay couples raising children and possibly act as a foundation for preventing them access to adoption. "Nonmarital" sure sounds to me like code for bashing parental rights of gay couples who are not allowed to get married.  I think this is an attempt to create laws that "validate" the right wing fear tactic that gay people abuse children.

So I guess he isn't aware of the fundamentalist Christian couples who are trained to beat their babies with rubber hoses to make them submissive. Perhaps he should interview the teenage disabled girl who judge of a father beat her with the knowledge of his wife. Or, perhaps he should look at our President as an example of how well adjusted people can come from loving single parent homes.

This is utterly disgusting an I am ashamed that the people of Wisconsin is allowing this. I lived in that great state for 14 years. My kids grew up there. We still have a summer home there, but the state has gone down the tubes, politically.
