Tuesday, September 20, 2011: Buh-bye Don't Ask Don't Tell

This repeal is more overdue than that library book I still have from my elementary school days:

Washington (CNN) -- The Pentagon announced the repeal of the long-controversial ban on homosexuals serving openly in the military will happen Tuesday.

Huzzah! Celebrate! What a relief! Woot!

Wait, sorry, I'm hearing something in my imaginary earpiece. I'm being told someone (or some two) is trying to rain on our gay parade:

But the repeal comes as two of the most powerful Republicans on the House Armed Service Committee call for a delay on the process of ending "don't ask, don't tell."

One of those spoil sports is Joe "You lie!" Wilson. Figures. He's the resident GOP "rainer on paradeser".

Hang on, I'm hearing another something in my imaginary whatever it is. A Defense Department representative is responding to the party poopers:

"The repeal of 'don't ask, don't tell' will occur, in accordance with the law and after a rigorous certification process, on September 20."

Hey Joe "You lie!" Wilson, now military members don't have to lie any more.
