Today’s Quickie:

I couldn’t access this article, but someone sent a copy of it to me (and the link) that I had to share with you. This has me very concerned. Somebody please talk me down.

Via The Financial Times:

Barack Obama is expected to lay out a plan next week that would cut several hundred billion dollars from Medicare and Medicaid… [...]

The announcement could create tensions within the Democratic party, which has traditionally staunchly defended Medicare.

J Horton, you really need to calm down. I am concerned and with good reason.

These proposals you say I should read aren’t out there (not “their” as you seem to think it’s spelled) yet. He’s hinted at them. Read the article, and stop making assumptions about me and about what Pres. O will propose.

By the way, which media do you rely on? There aren’t many that are NOT corporate. But just for you, I included a couple of not corporate links, one to a piece by David Dayen, who is a superb reporter. I’ve met the guy, he knows his stuff.

Now please stop with the insults and assumptions and calm down.

FYI: the problem is I have been listening to Pres. O. He’s pretty corporate, too, you know. And I do like the guy, and will vote for him, but he’s given me plenty of reasons to criticize, and I voice my opinions as you do. Hey, I even get to post mine in a blog that Paddy and I co-edit. Imagine.

Why don’t they just start with allowing the government to negotiate for drug pricing (currently in Bush’s Part D program, the government is PROHIBITED from negotiating prices…who the hell ever heard of such a stupid thing!). Pharma is operating like a monopoly.

That alone with save hundreds of millions of dollars!
