Fox News politics Twitter account hacked, hoaxsters tweet Obama assassinated in Iowa

I’m really surprised anyone would fall for the lame tweets, not at all the wording or feeling that would really happen.

Red-faced Fox News editors were scrambling early Monday to figure out how hackers broke into one of their Twitter accounts and posted several messages that President Obama had been assassinated.

The hackers broke into the broadcaster’s Fox News Politics account at around 2 a.m. and posted several messages that President Obama had been shot and killed while campaigning in Iowa.

“@BarackObama has just passed. The President is dead. A sad 4th of July, indeed. President Barack Obama is dead,” the first post said.

(snip)

The seven phony tweets were still visible on the account, which carries Twitter’s baby blue “verified account” badge, more than six hours later.

Fox’s politics account has nearly 35,000 followers.

While the hacking is not tolerated, excusable, or representative of liberals in any way…

… but if you ARE going to do something like this, use a bit more subtlety in your fake tweets.

Like, just a simple tweet saying “Recent study shows economic conditions due to Bush economic policies.” Then link to one of the CBO reports showing those facts.  Or present statistics the Fox crowd wouldn’t normally hear: True ones. Like, how many people really support the Affordable Care Act, how many want the Bush tax cuts ended, etc.  That is, were one to do something like this, which one should not.

What these kids did is moronic and no real liberal would stoop to such a conservative tactic, as we have greater intellect and wisdom than to perform such petty and insensitive pranks.

The obvious give-away: the tweets were polite, not “racist”, and grammatically correct.
    Not real tweets.;-)

Now, Brian — there you go again, confusing FAUX with a “news organization” . . .

I’d like to think that any news organization — and I use that term loosely here — would not use a hashtag like #ObamaDead, if anything like this were actually to happen.

I’m sure people at Faux news wished it were true and they would love to cover that story.
